Thanks, guys!

Mass produce? Mmmmm... ya. It was enough of a pain the first time.
A pain, but also a lot of fun... I love these kinds of paradoxes.

Man does that look nice! When my 5 year warranty goes off that will be one of the first things I do, along with the Cannabis Rex.

1. How did you get the labels off? That looks really professional! I love the closed in open back, very nice.

2. Did you just paint it, or did you put some vinyl on it?

Thanks, JC.

It's the original back with a hole in it and the labels just peel off. The only things I painted were part of the inside of the back and the edges of the hole - that's it.

OK... full disclosure time...

Long before I got the Cannabis Rex, I built my own Beam Blocker and installed it in the MII to tame those shrill highs of the stock speaker.
It helped quite a lot. It doesn't necessarily reduce the highs, it just disperses them and seems to mix them in better with the rest of the sound coming from the speaker. There's still plenty of detail and clarity in the sound but with very little harshness. I liked it a lot better.

After I got the C. Rex, I just left it in there and basically forgot all about it. I still got lots of detail and clarity but with more girth and bottom end.

When I put the amp back together today I forgot to put the beam blocker back in. I just plugged the amp in and turned it on just to make sure it still worked - it was fine. Later on I decided to plug in and play a little.... EGAD! Those who say that the C. Rex sounds muddy need to get their hearing checked. All of it's glorious sound was there but with the addition of some really brittle high end harshness. DOH! Just to test it, I taped the beam blocker in front of the amp to do an A/B test and definitively hear the difference it makes... Yowza! With it I got the clarity without the harshness but without it it was not acceptable to me at all. I'd gotten too used to the way the amp sounded with the blocker.
The Beam blocker is back in now and all is well again.

For those who want to know, I made it out of an old broken LED under-counter light. It has a reasonably good dome shape and the size was perfect. It's glued onto a piece of wood just long enough to fit into the baffle's speaker cutout and that wood is glued onto a thin and stiff piece of plastic from an old laptop's LCD screen - yes the actual screen itself. Here are some pics.

I've been taking a closer look at my MIII and the corners aren't gonna work. The screws in the top of the amp are in the way. They will work on my MIV though.

Dang! Those must be the screws that hold up the chassis. Too bad.

I had reached the same conclusion after getting all fired up to order some corners for my Mustang III.

With the screws already there, makes it even more of a pity that they didn't put corners on in the first place !

Maybe they think it would interfere with the 'modern' Carbon Tweed aesthetics.

There are some two-cornered amp corners and I wonder if they can be made to work. I know that one corner has a lip but the Carbon Tweed Tolex is pretty soft (which is what made me get the corners) and I wonder if that lip can be gently tapped into the Tolex.
I found these at Amazon.com - http://www.amazon.com/Fender-099-1348-000-Amp-Cabinet-Corners/dp/B002U1XPZY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1316533438&sr=8-2

Thanks for the thought, Orcatraz, but the lip on these is an issue I think.

It's a few mm deep, and is designed to wrap around a cabinet panel of a specific thickness. I'm not sure I'd want to try forcing it into the tolex and the timber beneath ! (and unless you do that, the corners won't sit flat).

Yeah... it was worth a shot.

Here is a good source of matt and gloss black Fender amp style corners at a decent price.
