Hi...I just purchased the Fender Accesories 099-4070-000 EQ Effects Pedal from amazon.com because it was cheaper than the Mustang 4 button footswitch. However, it looks exactly the same and seems to function exactly like the Mustang version. The only difference is that it does not have the Mustang name on the pedal, and the three options on mode three are different. I guess my question is...is that okay? Will what I bought still be compatible with my Mustang 3 without any issues? Thanks for your time!

Looks like it would, but I can't be sure. I got mine at Sweetwater for $40 shipped.

That's the UCT-4 (for G-Dec) pedal. Exactly the same apart from the labelling & aesthetics. In fact a few months ago I brought this 'dual pricing' to Fender's attention. They agreed it was an anomaly & instructed distributors to reduce the Mustang pedal price to match. See here:

Hello, so the GDEC footswitch will also work on the mustang III????
I am waiting for my Mustang 4-button switch for over two months now and it could take till november till they are shipping them so i was thinking to buy the GDEC switch instead.
I was not shure about it and took it up to Fender.
The guy there nicley wrote me an E-mail back.
He told me that the GDEC will not work with the Mustang III, because the amps use different software so they are not compatible with eachother.
So can pleace someone tell me some more about it.
Because if this thing does work on the mustang III, then there is something smelly about this.
Don't get me wrong here, I am verry, verry happy with my mustang amp, but it is a sad thing that the mustang 4 way button switch is hardly available.

He's talking nonsense - the pedals are exactly the same except for the labeling, as I said. There are several threads here by users confirming that the UCT-4 pedal works perfectly with the Mustang.

Hi there guys,

Guess what?????

Today out of the blue they delivered the mustang 4-button switch at my home.
So I've got the original now. :D
But then again if I knew the UCT-4 pedal would do the trick, I probably ordered that one instead.
It's half the price of the mustang 4-button switch.
Anyway I am happy that I have the switch now (after waiting for it for 2 months), so I can start giggin with it.

Glad you got the 4-button. But it should be the same price as the UCT-4 as per Fender's official response in the links I posted. I recommend you flag this to where you bought it to make sure they know about this (show them Fender's response) and ask for a refund of the price difference. If they are not willing to do this, refer to Fender, explain that the price differential is still there and that you're being disadvantaged and ask what can be done.

If anyone from Fender is looking in, perhaps they could investigate this ongoing price differential because it's not supposed to be happening now as confirmed by Fender in writing.

Yep, you can search back for some of my early posts here as well, I can report first-hand that it worked for me (others have posted confirmations here too).

Interestingly enough, when I purchased mine, the G-DEC foot switch was listed higher, and I actually saved a few $$ by returning it and purchasing the "correct" one.

Go figure.
