I'd like to use the mustang I/II with a multieffects (specifically the digitech RP255 or 355) pedal and I was wondering what would be the best settings on the Mustang for doing this?

Well if you want to use the Mustang as a monitor for the Digitech modeling, the best you can do is try to get the cleanest tone you can on the Mustang (maybe the twin reverb with no gain and no effects). But your still going to have some coloration from what ever amp model you use on the Mustang. So any tone you set up on the Mustang that has any kind of gain or crunch to it is probably just going to get muddy when run another amp model in front of it.

However...

The Digitech has a lot more built in effects so it might be interesting to run some of them through the Mustang. In fact, I myself have a Digitech RP250 and have ran it front of my MIII so I could use the wah, and had good results with that. What I did was set up a patch on the Digitech with all the parameters for everything turned off. Then I just stomp on the pedal to turn it on and use it like regular wah pedal.

With my "bypass" patch the Digitech isn't sending any modeling to the Mustang to dirty up the tone. I never thought to try turning on any of the other effects, but thanks for giving me the idea.

Hey Guys,

There are two ways to use a MFX pedal with the Mustang I&II.

You can use the pedal as Scorpaeon does for simple, no gain, effects, such as wah, or you can use the Mustang as just a speaker by connecting the MFX pedal into the Mustang's AUX input.

If you plan on using an MFX unit, you should be looking at the MIII-MV. Those models have an FX Loop.
