Hi there,

I recently bought a Mustang I and really love it.

I'd like to protect it with a cover but didn't find a specific one for this amplifier.
Does anybody know a compatible cover?

Cheers.

You might check with Fender directly to see if they make one for it. I found out they made one for my M2 but only after emailing Loren Howard here on the forum.

Hopefully others will chime in with comparable covers they are using.

Hello again, Pomgeek.

The part number for the Mustang I cover is 009-0944-000. Take that to your dealer and you should be all set.

I might as well ask this here...

I have a Mustang II and would like a proper cover for it. I understand from another thread that the part number for this is 009-0945-000, but that it's not readily available at dealers. (It's not on the Fender site either, which I find odd because I understood that the Mustang was a good seller and I'd have thought covers would fly off the shelves, or at least that it would be worth distributing/advertising them if you go to the trouble of making them!)

Anyway, my hopeless question is as follows: I live in the UK. As stated, I can't find any official covers anywhere on the Web for the Mustang II. Is there any way - short of taking a plane/boat across the pond - of getting hold of one in the UK?

Thanks for any pointers you can give.

Same here in Australia. Plenty of Mustang amps being sold, but no support with acccessories like covers and footswitches. When I've asked about Mustang amp covers locally, dealers just stare blankly at me.

Last time I raised this kind of issue here, a highly offended Aussie Fender rep jumped in and told me these kinds of accessories are readily available here, but that bears no actual resemblance to my own in-store experience.

This seems to be a problem a lot with amp covers. They are listed with a part number, but are nearly impossible to find.

I had Tuki covers make a nice padded cover for my Hot Rod Deluxe...and it's worth every penny. They can make covers for any size amp. I don't see the Mustang listed, but the GDEC is, so I'm sure they have the measurements for it. Great folks to deal with.

Those do look good, although not cheap !

Given that there is clearly a market for covers, and that people are prepared to pay some pretty solid prices for them, I'm a bit surprised that Fender don't try harder to generate a steadier supply of their own custom covers, and also make sure that they actually get to dealers !

I miss the Good old days when every Amp came with a nice heavy duty cover. But every guitar come with a case too. Then the import stuff started cutting into sales big time. When they started to sell them separate alot of people didn't buy them, so the shops quit stocking them, then Companies quit making them. Cases are sold with top of the line guitars only because shipping without one is more expensive to insure.

You can find amp covers online here in the states rather cheap but only for the most popular amps. Sweetwater.com has a wide variety around $20 but shipping overseas might kill the deal. I was going to have the local seamstress make me one until I got one for my Mustang IV from Sweetwater.

Some US sites do now ship overseas, but the shipping cost ususally kills it as they seem to insist on using an expensive courier service, so even relatively small items shipped here to Oz end up way too dear. A $20 cover would end up costing $60 !

In the end, my wife kindly made up a simple black cotton canvas cover for my Mustang III. Keeps the dust off but wouldn't resist hard knocks.

I’d like to say hello to all & thanks. Though I just registered today, I have been reading your posts for several weeks... I too have been searching for a cover for my Mustang II... After going back & forth with Fender for the last week (& receiving the same part #), along with the emails with ??? marks, & silence on the phone, I finally got through to someone that has covers for the Mustang 1 & 2, & ordered one.

Spoke with Kim at http://www.newoldsounds.com/ when she called me back after I left a message... Though she didn’t have any right now, she is going to order some & have them by Tuesday or Wednesday. I already ordered one, & she said she won’t bill my CC until she has it & ready to be shipped. Price is $24.95 + $4 to $5 shipping. (she wasn’t sure)... I told her she should get several of each (1 & 2), as I wasn’t the only one looking.

So again, hello to all, & I’m rather excited. Not just about the cover, but I have a Fender American Special HSS arriving tomorrow. (black)... I have two other guitars, but this will be my first Fender. Santa will be coming in a Fed Ex truck this year. Ya all have a good weekend.
