Light at the end of the tunnel!

I'd like to preface this with my hearty appreciation for what the Fender staff tried to do, but unfortunately were unable to help me. Because, what had happened was...

When I bought the amp at Guitar Center I also bought the "Pro Coverage" warranty from Guitar Center. So when I took my amp back to GC and they told me I had to send it to a service center I naturally assumed it would be an official, certified Fender service center. Turns out the GC Pro Coverage warranty program is handled by a third party service center where they seem to fix a lot of IPhones, flat screen TVs and such, but not so many Fender amps. So since they didn't have any official affiliation with Fender, there was really nothing Fender could do about it.

However, I called the service center in question and complained. Of course I was only able to talk to an operator who didn't know much but she told me she'd have a technician call me back. So a few hours later the tech called back and was real apologetic, told me that they were having a real hard time finding the parts but finally just got them on a rush order. Really? It took 3 weeks to find the parts? And the day I call to complain you suddenly have them on order? Whatever, I was happy that progress was being made.

So he told me he'd get the parts on Monday, get the amp fixed and sent back to me ASAP.

I knew there was a good reason to avoid the GC (and others) extended warranty! If the result is unsatisfactory, any chance you can prevail upon the base Fender warranty? That should supercede third party after-market warranties. If Fender will cover it, you should be able to ask GC to honor the fender warranty, or bypass GC entirely and take it up with Fender directly.

I'd have to research and find out what exactly is covered by Fender's warranty. I know that when I talked to the customer relations guy at Fender he told me that normal wear and tear is not covered. Or, for example, if the amp fell off the stage during a gig, that would not be covered by Fender. That's where its good to have the 3rd party extended warranty. With the "Pro Coverage" I'm covered for anything that might happen to the amp for 5 years. So it may cause me a little more pain and frustration dealing with a 3rd party, but still worth it the grand scheme.

Anyways, as long as I get my amp back in working order I'll be happy.

Are you telling me that because you bought a GC warranty Fender's warranty is null and void? Don't you think Fender should at least look at the amp before they determine it cannot be fixed under the warranty? It is nice to know now it is pretty worthless to buy the GC warranty if they are fixing mainly TV's and iphones and not amplifiers.

No I'm not saying that.

Fender's warranty covers certain things like manufacturers defects and I'm not sure what else cause I don't feel like looking it up right now.

With the GC Pro Coverage, if you so much as get little scratch on the covering, they (GC) will repair or replace the amp (through their associated service center that is not an actual Fender service center).

When I started having problems with my amp I naturally thought to myself just take it back to GC, since that's where I bought it, and they will take care of it. When they told me I had to send it to a service center I naturally assumed it would be a Fender service center. I should have read the fine print.

Lesson learned: Next time communicate with Fender first to see if my problem can be handled by them directly. If not, fall back on my GC Pro Coverage.

I just want to say that the mods here and Fender reps that I've talked to and emailed have been nothing but helpful to me. Even though they couldn't resolve my problem I still feel that they genuinely cared about my problem and went out of their way to at least try to help.

Got my amp back on Friday.

After about a month apart from it I almost forgot how amazing it sounds. I've been playing it all weekend.

Glad it worked out for you. Lesson learned, don't buy the extended warranty. Fender amps come with a 5 year warranty anyhow.

I am amazed at this...If you were a gigging musician 5 weeks would be unsatisfactory. I would have had to buy another, program it, return it at 29 days and start all over again until my amp was fixed.

GC should have swapped it for you since you bought the pro coverage or at least offered you the floor model as a loaner, I am sure that they bully Fender around daily on returns anyway.

I am glad it worked out for you and envy your patience.
