How close can you keep a MacBook to a Mustang I with out running the risk of damage?

I can't speak for Fender, but I would hope that using the MacBook as an amp stand would be the only configuration that might result in some damage (that, or trying to mic the amp with the MacBook and cranking the amp so high that parts start falling off the computer).

Seriously, apart from mechanical damage from contact between them, I would be stunned if you got anything more than some unwanted noise by having them in too close proximity (if that).

I've been wrong before, though (once).

PITA

Hey Jim,

What kind of damage are you referring to. Keeping your Macbook in close proximity to your amp shouldn't cause any damage at all.

just recently, i started using my mac with the guitar. its convenient to have both there on the same desk. would the magnetic fields of the amp interfere with the computer? drive damage or interference...

i searched on line and found a few similar questions, but no direct answer. all the responses seem to range from "no, wont hurt it at all..." to "must be at least so-n-so feet away or the speaker will melt your HD..."
so, what i decided to do, is just do it. i keep frequent backups and my MacBook is setting right next to the amp. if there is a melt down, i'll simply replace the melted parts and move them all farther apart...
thanks for the help!
:)
