I am wondering if there is a Fender guide to tweaking the various effects on the Mustang III and Fuse Software? Each effect has adjustable parameters, and rather than just "mess with them", I would love some guidance. Thanks!

I have missed a thorough manual on the advanced amp settings in Fuse. There are options, like Master Volume, Blend, Sag, Bias, the different cabinets, that Fender offers no explanation what they are and what does what. I'm a beginner with little knowledge of real tube amps. I have seen manuals from other manufacturers that explain to the detail the workings of the amp models. Why do I have to try to guess everything?

Even the Master Volume setting seems confusing. Based on my knowledge, tube amps (and basically all other amps) have two amp stages, preamp stage and power amp stage. On amps that have some sort of Gain knob, that knob adjusts the preamp, and putting more gain on that brings out preamp distortion. If you want the power amp tubes to start distorting, which I understand is a desired effect, you have to crank up the volume full on, or at least allmost.

So, to try out a modelling version of that power tube distortion, I put the volume setting on some of the presets to 10, and I saw a Master Volume setting in the advanced amp settings, so I just thought that is for levelling out the volumes between different presets.

Now I'm confused, 'cause actually that Master Volume setting seems to have an actual effect on the sound, not the Volume knob, that is actually on my Mustang I. Which way is it? Is there somewhere a hidden, real manual that would explain all these things and the effect settings?

As far as I know there is no specific guidance available from Fender on the settings for effects on the Mustangs - there seems to be an in-built assumption that everyone will already know what a 'sine-chorus' is, and how to adjust it.

To be honest, noodling around with the settings can be fun and maybe that's the best way to learn. Other than that, google may be your friend -try googling for overdrive pedal, or chorus, for example, and you may find some useful explanations of what these kinds of effects do and how they can be set, in general terms.

I seem to recall that someone previously posted here a document published by Boss, that explained the use of the settings for most of that company's wide pedal effects range, and some of that information was quite helpful for the effects on the Mustangs. But a 'real' manual for the Mustangs from Fender would be even more helpful !

Sadly, there is no Mustang-specific guide, so you will have to get creative with Google and forum searches (I agree, I get the distinct impression that Fender expects us to already know what the various knobs and buttons do on the actual hardware versions of the amps and effects modeled by the Mustangs).

I dropped a few hints a while ago in an old post (do navigate to the embedded links in the quote attributions, they have more detail):
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=52270&p=626305#p626305
(also, you can check out aLinux's recommendation for the BOSS manuals in the same thread.)

Also, a helpful forumite has taken a stab at writing just such a guide:

Enjoy,

PITA

Found a Fender support document that tells you how to 'customise' the effects in FUSE - but sadly it only appears to cover changing the COLOUR of the pedals in the Fuse interface - essential stuff, Fender !

It seems that it's just too much bother for Fender to write a manual that really explains how to use their product. What's up with that?

check out the Cyber-Twin manual, it has many of the same effects and options, and the Cyber-Twin manual is very detailed in what each setting does.

Had a quick look at the Cyber Twin manual and there is certainly some stuff in there that can help with the Mustangs on effects - which of course begs the question of how hard it would really be for Fender to provide a similar level of detailed help specifically for the Mustangs.

As I said there seems to be an assumption from Fender with the Mustangs that everyone will already be familiar with all the effects and possible settings, which is particularly odd in the case of the Mustang I and II which are pitched by Fender as entry level modeling amps.
