Sorry for the double post on this topic but i think it would be better to post any reply's here. Maybe fender can add some advanced speaker modeling in fuse so that you can not only change the different cab models but also the raw speakers by them self, for example you would be able to mix and match different drivers like the Eminence CR and Cannabis Rex just to name a few and also having the choice of using the different cab sizes with them, 1x2,2x12,4x12. If fender could not do this alone with fuse maybe they could create another program that would work with fuse so they can do this type of advanced speaker modeling?

That is a most cool idea! OR, if they wanted to do so, they could have a choice of no speaker sim at all and you could use Redwirez or another type of speaker IR in your DAW.

If this is already done, I am sorry. I am expecting my Mustang III tomorrow morning.

In reality, speaker sims are simply EQ variations that try to 'approximate' the tonal characteristics of different speaker cabs. If your amp has an FX loop, putting a simple 7-band EQ in the loop will provide you with a whole new world of EQ control not available from the amp itself.

If you only have a Mustang I or II, this isn't as effective an option because these do not have FX loops and an EQ 'direct' does not do quite the same thing (it acts more as a gain boost). Also, outside the loop an EQ can sometimes generate more unwanted noise.

Rich

What Rockat said!!

A parametric eq would be a useful update (new firmware) for the Mustangs.

I would say the speaker cab modeling is more complicated then just different eq filter settings, they can be actual samples taken from the the real cabs that are modeled and also some complicated computer programming may be involved. Some eq may be used at the final stage but not for the total cab modeling.

Well, maybe you could wire your computer into the fx loop and play some speaker modelling impulses over the Mustang sounds? There are lots of impulses available online.

I ran Amplitube Fender on my laptop and put it to Aux connection - it sounded nice but not like a guitar traditional amp. The basic sound of an amp is very raw compared to a modelling system with speaker emulations. Actually the emulations should be turned off and all eq'ing should be done in the amp modelling because there IS a real speaker in the chain, IMO.
