Hey, so I have mustang for 3 months and I think its the time to start using fender fuse software.People from epi & gibson forum told me to ask for help here, so.
I want to know how to make preset for sound like that
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg5Es3_7oCY

Is it possible to make a similar tone with the mustang and fender fuse? If yes can someone help me?
I have an Epi LP Custom and Fender Mustang 2.

Thanks all for answers ~~

Try checking the user-made presets through Fuse - you might find what you're looking for there ;) Although I'm not a Metallica fan so I never even bothered to download any presets and can't help you with how close they get to their sound because to be honest - I don't want to get close to that sound ;) Just download those presets and maybe add some touches by yourself and you should probably be good to go.

Well as I said I'm not a Metallica fan so I can't really tell you what to do to get that sound, however here's what I suggest you to do:
Find the preset that is the closest to Metallica sound you want, then start changing what you think is wrong - ie if there is a wah-wah effect and you don't like it - remove it, or tweak it or whatever. You can also build one completely by yourself - just play around in Fuse a bit. If I were a Metallica fan I could tell you how to get the sound, or close to it anyway, but I'm not so aside from this - I can't help you much. Also try changing cabinets in the Advanced Amp options - it really does wonders - maybe there's a preset that really would sound Metallica-ish, but it has the wrong cabinet chosen - so just play around. Either you start making one by yourself or choose the user-made preset that's the closest to the sound you want and start changing things and you'll see if you're going in the right direction or not - if you don't - try again. If you do - well that's it :)
EDIT: Also there is a "Puppet Master" preset already on Mustangs III, IV and V (don't know which one you own or maybe I missed where you wrote it) - I don't know if it's on I and II, but if you have III, IV or V - it might be a good start here. It's inspired, of course, by Master of Puppets song but I don't really know how accurate it is due to above mentioned reasons ;)

Hi there,
I think the clean part can be done on the mustang amp.
I know that Metallica plays the clean part on a Roland Jazz Chorus witch I own.
I also own the Mustang III and made me a real nice clean patch that is also perfect in combination with pedals.
Now this is where it starts.
You can start in Fuse, by using the fender twin reverb and take out the reverb and dial the treble, mid and bass all to 5, the gain all the way down to 0.
This will give you a real nice clean sound.
Then put the sine chorus on the left corner in Fuse and try to adjust it to your taste.
Now you should be having a sound that is similar to the metallica clean sound.
Maybe you have to dial in a little bass or treble again, but i think this patch will do the trick.
As for the heavy parts, I must get back to you.
I will try to figure it out, and if I do I will let you know.

Greetings and good luck.

Hi

Just bought the Mustang II and I have to say I'm very happy. Good to meet you all.

Anyway, Metallica sound.
I had a quick bash at the clean sound and I have posted a link the the output below.
I don't know how to export my setting if you want it (someone may help or I'll read the manual)
Its basically the Beauty clean preset with comp + sine chorus
gain - 3.5
vol- 7
Treble - 6
middle - 5
bass - 8

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5665665/Output%201-2.mp3

I might add the dist guitars later. Take care

I find the default settings for metal-ish sounds to be pretty lacking and offer the following suggestions to get that scooped, tight Metallica sound:

1. Instead of using the gain on the amp model of choice, use the "overdrive" stomp effect. Set the following: level at 7.5, gain at 7.5, low at 2.5, mid at 2.4 high at 8.5.
2. On the amp setting page 1, set the gain at 3 or 4 at most, bass at 8.5, mid at 2.5 and high at 7.0. On the amp setting page 2, sag at "less", bias at -50% (all the way down), noise gate at low or medium.
3. Use the 4x12M setting for speaker cab.

Hope this helps. I really like the amp and it does a great job with vintage clean sounds but for anything heavy you need to tweak away.
