Hi y'all, I'm new here--Started gigging with the Mustang III a couple of months ago & I'm lovin' it. I play in an oldies band so the footswitch setup is pretty simple--The 2-button toggles between a Vox and a Twin preset and for the 4-button I use Mode 3 with the buttons set for Stomp (compressor for solo boost), Mod (vintage tremolo on one and Sine tremolo on the other,) & Delay (mono on one, tape on the other.) Got it set so the Twin stomp is ON at access so I can go from the Vox for rhythm to the Twin for lead, or use the Twin for rhythm & lead. Gotta have that tremolo in there for those classic '60s sounds!

Here's the problem: Why'd they have to put the 2 buttons on the left so close together? When I go to hit that Stomp switch (OK, I've got wide feet), I found myself inadvertently hitting the Mode switch occasionally. It took too much finesse to get that toe up there "in the middle." Here's the solution: I took 3 hours last night & tore it apart & relocated the Mode switch an inch to the left, which now puts it miles away from the Stomp switch. Why couldn't they have just designed it that way from the git-go? Anybody else have this problem?

One of my major grips with all manufactures of multi button effects units and foot switches, is that they always put the buttons too close together. Like most players, to insure that you actually hit the button properly, you tend to wear shoes, so that if your foot is a little left or right when you press, you still hit the button, but as you mentioned, quite often you will hit the button beside it and activate the wrong thing.

Especially embarrasing when you want to go to a driven boost sound for a solo and you hit the button for the clean sound.

I would be more than happy to pay the little extra and lug something a little larger, to have the luxury of having the buttons say 4 inches apart, rather than the standard 2 inches that most pedals use. If you have a size 10 or 11 foot like most guys, this is too limiting and bloody awful when you are playing on a dark stage and can't really see the pedal to well.

Happens to me too.. What I hate the most, though, is that the time you have to hold the Mode button to go into tuner mode is so short, like 0.5s if not less, and often (I don't have the 2 button footswitch, just the 4 button) when I want to go from Quick access Mode 1 to Effects Mode 3 to add some stereo tape delay or something for solos (which I really love the sound, I add it anyway even if it isn't in the original songs I cover - it just adds some spine to the whole solo and makes the thing sound better, imho), I often instead of press the button 2 times very quickly, don't fully release the button before clicking again and baam - I'm in a tuner mode with my amp being quiet and already have to play solo..that's embarrassing.. Same goes with quick access mode - I always have to be careful to look down and concentrate on hitting the right button instead of concentrating on playing.. I already start looking down at my footswitch like 5-10 seconds before I have to change preset for driven chorus or clean sound or lead with a little boost or whatever lol :P

Yep--After years of using a pedalboard I'm finally able to do without it, it's just a matter of getting used to it......just like everything else in life, eh?

I'm only an amateur who practices alone in my room but even I could kind of guess that this would be a potential problem. Kind of amazing. Renders the Mustang a "toy" and not a real amp that one would gig with it seems. Yes, I see that many gig with it.

Have you had this embarrassing thing you describe (go to tuner mode) actually happen live? Many times? I'm not insulting you and, again, I'm not close to being good enough to gig, but I just can't imagine that!!!!

Well I've only had one live gig (just a like 2 songs, really, but in front of whole school :P ) and didn't own this amp then, was hoping I'd try it out but it seems like, sadly, I first have to find a more serious band to play with :?
Anyway I got used to it so it doesn't happen to me anymore, luckily, but it would be really embarrassing, had it happened live. Thankfully it only happened when only I could hear myself.
Can't wait to take this baby for a spin as soon as I find a more serious band though. I'd love to gig with it :)

Foot's too big? Can't tap those switches? Lost that effect?
Easy answer: Bring back those 60s and pointed toe shoes.
Option: Cowboy boots.

Love those rubber toe thingeys though.

Hey...aren't the buttons mounted directly to the PCB? I thought about doing that but when I looked inside (and not very thoroughly) I became disgruntled and decided not too. Did you have to desolder the footswitch from the PCB or did I just not look close enough. Pictures please...

Funny how sometimes we do not realize there is a problem until someone brings it up.
I have the same issue hitting the wrong switch or sometimes hitting two switches at the same time, and I have relatively small feet (size 8)
