Does anybody own more than one mustang and sync via fuse the presets? Is this possible? I thought it would be cool to have a practice or rehearsal amp with all of the same presets as a gigging amp.

Might be possible using the Fuse backup functions to copy across multiple presets, although of course the I and II only have 24 preset slots, whereas the bigger amps have 100.

Failing that, just copy across one preset at a time, using FUSE. Presets created on the III, IV and V should reproduce exactly on the I and II.

You might find ischenitte's "Horse Tamer" app useful if your on PC:

You can backup one amp and "restore" those presets to the other can't you?

O.

If you are trying to 'restore' a Mustang III backup to a Mustang II, where do the extra 76 presets go ??

When backing up, can you choose which presets to include - if so, then perhaps you could 'backup' your favourite 24 on the Mustang III, and then 'restore' them to the Mustang II.

However, I think back-ups have to be all-inclusive, so if you backup a Mustang III you will end up with a file that contains all 100 presets, that can't be 'restored' to an MII which only has 24.

Using HorseTamer, here is how you could work it:

1.) Do a backup of the MIII - naming it so that you know it is from the III

2.) Do a backup of the MI/II - naming it so that you know it is from the I (or II)

Now you have 2 backups to work with in HorseTamer

Open HorseTamer and configure it for use with a III/IV/V

3.) Choose the III backup and copy the 24 presets you wish to use from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen via drag and drop. This essential copies the presets to your ...Fender\FUSE\Presets folder. The right side panel are all the presets in your preset folder.

Close HorseTamer.

Reopen HorseTamer and configure it for use with a M I/II.

4.) Choose the backup you made for the I/II and make a copy of it naming it descriptively.

5.) Drag the presets you wish to use from the right side of the screen to the left side of the screen - you can drag them right to the slot you want them to be in. Once they are in the left panel, you can also drag and drop them vertically if you change your mind...

6.) Save the new backup.

Close HorseTamer.

Using the FUSE "Restore" feature, restore the new backup you made for the M I/II to that amp.

---

It was a lot harder to explain how to do this that it would be to actually do it...

Sorry I haven't weighed in since I made the post. I am on a trip in CA right now and just got my computer onto internet access. It seems like if you can save unlimited presets on FUSE you could just load some of the most used presets onto Mustang II. One thing though that I just thought of... doesn't the III have some models and effects that the II doesn't? Couldn't that cause a problem, or what would happen if you tried to load them onto the II? Give an error message? Has anyone that has a II downloaded a preset from the community that was made on a III and was not able to load it on to their II?

Please bear with me if I am making so sense.

It is my understanding that, by using Fuse, the I and II amps can access and load all of the same amp models and effects that are available to the III, IV and V. So, using Fuse, a I or II should be able to successfully and accurately load any preset created on a III, IV or V.

However, there are fewer features directly accessible on the I and II amps.

So, while a I or II can load a preset from a III, IV or V, once you are disconnected from Fuse it will not be possible to access all of the settings for that preset on those smaller amps.

If I am wrong, perhaps Loren or Alan will correct me ?

Very interesting. If fender creates a extremely user-friendly syncing function between different sized amps, and gets rid of the fizz, this could be a huge step for the average working musician that has to play many different styles to make a living (and currently has to lug around WAY too much gear). Haha think of all the wedding band guitarists that will flock to the mustang series!

I think a number of posters here have already noted the 'swiss army knife' potential of the Mustangs, for example in a cover band situation where a guitarist may want to cycle through several different tones and styles through the course of a gig, which with traditional gear could mean a lot of time between numbers changing pedal setups and twiddling amp controls.

The transferability of presets between the models certainly means that a player can have/use a smaller Mustang for practice/rehearsal, and a larger model for gigs with access to the same amp and effects setups.

However, it needs to be remembered that while the settings for a preset may be transferable, the tone being heard may still vary because of the differences in the amps themselves - smaller/bigger cabinets, closed/open backs, bigger/different/more speakers etc.

Hey Guys,

As far as copying entire sets of Presets, the I&II are compatible with each other and the III, IV, and V are compatible with each other. Wont be able to copy an MIII's contents to a MII due to the difference in preset structure on the amps.

But presumably there is no reason why one can't, via Fuse, copy 24 MIII presets into the 24 slots on an MII one at a time and have them work correctly ? (As opposed to copying 'sets' of presets between the amps, which I wouldn't expect to work).
