I totally agree. Yet, there seems to be no shortage of people willing to make such mind numbingly stupid statements.

Hey Orcatraz,

What is the ohm rating of the Eminence CR. Sounds great, I think you hooked me on following your path!

Thanx!

Gotta love the Cannabis Rex! I've got a pair of them in my Bluesbreaker 2x12 cab (running in stereo) off my Mustang V - they just sound awesome. I've also got an Eminence Governor in my Mustang III that I use for rehearsals - it sounds pretty sweet too. For the Cannabis Rex's, I've definitely noticed a significant change in tone (for the better!) as they've broken in over time - they just keep getting better...

I've actually got a Mustang II as well (I just love these amps) - how did you wire the speaker? did you connect the ground wire? to what?

I actually had to replace the connector for the negative wire as it was too small for the speaker's terminal (there goes the warranty - Ha ha). I took a chance and did not connect the ground wire. I was concerned that the amp might become more susceptible to RF noise but it's just as quiet as before. Nice!

"Ground wire? We don't need no stinking ground wire!"

The CR's efficiency is a really nice bonus too and it really helps the M2's 40 watts - tons more headroom!

I love these amps too and am really having to keep myself from buying another M1 just for something to mess around on with mods. GRRRR.

You guys gave me a great idea with all this talk of speaker swapping. Maybe fender can add some advanced speaker modeling in fuse so that you can not only change the different cab models but also the raw speakers by them self, for example you would be able to mix and match different drivers like the Eminence CR and Cannabis Rex just to name a few and also having the choice of using the different cab sizes with them, 1x2,2x12,4x12. If fender could not do this alone with fuse maybe they could create another program that would work with fuse so they can do this type of advanced speaker modeling?

Stock sounds better on all accounts IMO, though the Rex has much better low end response.

The stock speaker is better if you like buzzy distorted tones and very bright clean tones. I agree that the Rex's low end response is superior and it's exactly what the Mustang desperately needs. For me, the stock speaker needed to be mellowed out a fair bit. It tended to be a bit "icepicky" in the top end.
My M2 sounds HUGE now and it has a lot more headroom. This is something that really helps its meager (compared to the M3/4/5) 40 watt power amp.

Well I decided on the WGS LIBERATOR for my Mustang II for many reasons and glad I did!

Below is my review I just put on their forum, hope it can help some of yall.........

________________________________________________________________________

Just installed in my Fender Mustang II modeling combo and could not be more happy.

I would highly recommend the Liberator for any 1x12 combo, solid state or tube amps. Really cant imagine this speakers voice sounding bad in any configuration though. Turned it into a real amp, shaved the ice picky harshness, warmed up the upper mids, increased the middle mids for a perfect musical cut and ear pleasing definition. Low end responds with deep authority without sounding woofy. And with the modeling technology and 40 watt power plant of the Mustang, I wanted to make sure there was no speaker breakup to let the modelers take care of that realm and that puppy exceeded my expectations in all aspects. And I am one picky, tone chaser. Really, I have an illness regarding finding tones that inspire me to create better and you now have a customer for LIFE!

Great job WGS! I have been a Celestion guy exclusivley for over 30 years of pro playing. Not any more, cant wait to do some replacing in my larger stage rigs. I am a believer and I want to seriously thank you for your pursuit and achievments of excelence in tone.

Plus it's great to see a US company rising to the top. And the top is definately your destination.

I will be spreading the word for you all around BIG D Texas and beyond. Now proudly flying the WGS flag!

Thanks again WGS!
