According to your photo of your beamblocker mounting you sandwiched it between the speaker and the speaker board, correct? Did you notch the speaker board so it would lie flush?

No, I did not notch the speaker baffle, but it does lie flush. I found a 1 1/2" W x 1/4" piece of wood, measured the diameter of the speaker cutout and cut the piece of wood as precisely as I could so that I could "press fit" it right in the speaker cutout. Just for added security, I used a stiff piece of plastic from an broken LCD screen that I pulled apart and cut it so that it is longer than the speaker cutout and hot glued it to the piece of wood and the dome at the center of the whole assembly. The thin plastic piece was held in place by the speaker's screw and the speaker itself pressing down on its two ends.

Thank you, at first glance I thought you used a thin metal ruler as the mounting bar. Upon very close (zoomed in) I can see it is translucent (LCD Screen material) and the shadow of the wood brace on the other side. You know, I really like the job you did with the backpanel cutout so I think I may just give it a try. What length tilt back legs did you use 14" or 16"?

Taking the Height of the amp at 17.25" and the legs almost at that length I surmise you are using a 16" Fender Tilt Back leg. Please let me know if that is correct and again I thank you for all of your kind help here. You have a beautiful amp.

I got the stickers off without damaging them per your instructions. Now to cut out the hole.

Yeah, I used the 16' legs indeed. If I may, when I marked off where the hole was to be, I just drew a rectangle on the inside of the back cover and rounded off the corners using a metal mixing bowl. At each corner, I made a mark about 1 1/2" on both lines leading to the corner point so that when I used the bowl to draw the rounded corner. Put the bowl down so that its edge touches both of the 1 1/2" marks. This helps ensure that each rounded corner is relatively the same.

I hope I'm not posting this too late - I just got home from my gig.

Just remember the old carpenter's axiom, "Measure twice, cut once." I tend to measure three times... four when my age gets the best of me.

O.

P.S. The reason I marked the back on the inside is because a jigsaw cuts on the up stroke and any flaws in the cut will happen on the inside of the amp's back cover.

Thanks, You and I think somewhat alike! I drew a rectangle on the backside using a square then used an 8" stove top metal ring to do the ends. Then I used a square to just slightly flatten the left and right circular sides by 1/2" at the center point of the end of the circle so it looked closer to yours. My reasoning for using the backside was more of convenience as I could see the lines on the plain wood better than on the black back and glad I did after your comments about the saw teeth. Also, I agree with you about using the nickel. I think it would add to the appearance as well as protect the corners unlike the black that would just function as corner protectors. Is your hole approx. 7 1/2" bottom to top or do I need to make it a little wider (top to bottom)?

BTW: I have not started on the cutout of the board. I thought I would wait until daylight so I could see better.

I'm completely satisfied with my Mustang II and almost all presets sounds good with a strat, I just make some little adjustments.

My daughter has a Mustang I and I have a Mustang III and I can definitely say that we are both more than satisfied with our amps.

Well, you know what they say, great minds...

You know, I didn't actually measure that part of it. I just made sure that I avoided the hole for the AC jack and that the new hole was centered side to side (that part I measured). The AC jack hole should also have enough material around it so that that area doesn't get weakened by the new hole. I made the new hole about 1 1/8" below the AC Jack

Yeah, daylight helps a lot and cutting things with a jigsaw while you're sleep deprived is not the best of ideas. Good luck with it when you dive in!

I didn't measure mine either until I was completely through. At that point, I wondered how it compared to the opening in the amp with the top and bottom 4" wide boards I used. It is about 2" less. Do you use your amp in a band?

I use mine with a 9 piece R&B, funk/jazz band and I always mic it for performances. For rehearsals it never gets turned up past "4". That C-Rex has given me a lot of headroom for a 40 watt solid state amp. I might actually get an M1 again just so I can have something I can really muck with. I wonder if there's an 8" speaker out there with similar characteristics with the C-Rex. Hmmm...

Update: I just found this! http://www.whole-tonemusic.com/catalog/i529.html Mwa-ah-ah-ah-ah!

Ok Gene, I did it! Back Panel finished, stickers re-installed at a higher position like yours. Thanks to your assistance it turned out pretty decent. Now I will take it apart and paint the inside (speaker removed, speaker hole covered and electronics covered of coarse) . I ordered a Weber Beam Blocker from Musicians Friend. Hopefully it will get here by Wednesday or Thursday. I will get some corners as soon as I decide where. Some places have dirt cheap prices like $0.50 each then charge $12-$16 shipping.
