If you are disappointed my the sound of your Mustang, use Fuse!

I thought it was something I would never use.

All the factory presets are awful, but after an hour with Fuse, I have an amp I'm more than happy with :D

That was one of the first things I did with my IV. I now have some very good presets that I love!

Sorry you feel this way. I would have to disagree. There are only a few factory presets that I don't like. Glad you were able to season to taste.

I can use 60's Sparkle and a few others, but that's about it. Most are an absurd, over-effected buzzfest that maybe would sound awesome for a Christian Death Metal band.

Before you spend months tweaking FUSE, check out some of the user-created presets in the community. Some are actually pretty cool. Way better than stock.

Of the 100 factory presets on the III, IV and V, apart from the bare-bones un-effected amp models I reckon there are only about a dozen others that I can seriously imagine myself using, and some of those need quite a bit of tweaking for my taste. But I fully understand that others will disagree.

What I don't really get is why the factory preset styles are so scatter-gunned across the 100 slots. I know that they can be rearranged by a user with a bit of effort, but why not 'group' them in the factory set up - clean, drive, crunch, high gain etc. Would save a lot of dialling.

Love my Mustang IV. Best amp I've ever owned. Period - 'nuff said.

I sure wouldn't need 100 presets, especially seemingly lousy ones. Glad only a few clunkers on my MII.

Most modeling amps and modeling floor type processors have very poor factory presets,i know because i have a variety of different units, that being said the mustang factory presets are not too bad but not great either. please do not buy any modeling amp or processor if you are not willing to dig in and tweak the factory presets because you will most likely give a negative review of these amps and that will mislead potential buyers of the mustang and other modeling amps out there.

I love my M2 - especially now with the back open and the Cannabis Rex installed. As for presets, the first thing I do on any new modeler I buy is start editing. I never even listen to the presets. I do this even at the store when I check them out.

Never judge a modeler by its factory presets.

I must admit, some presets I have kept because I like them. I like Beauty Clean, and maybe 3 others. The rest of them are drowned in effects, mushy, and harsh.

I'm very happy with my MIII.

Honestly, I've spent way more time in FUSE then with the factory presets. But I've found that I can get a good sound out of just about any of the factory presets with just a little bit of knob turning. Or by trying it with another guitar with different pickups. That's one of the things that makes these amps so awesome, is that they react like "real" amps to whatever gear you put in front of it. Every guitar player is not going to have the same experience with the same patches.

AMEN! No disagreement here!

I feel exactly the same way about my M-II and even more about my M-V. Terrible presets. I also feel the same about the factory presets on my G-DEC 3 Thirty. Thank God I was able to tweak about a dozen to my taste and basically forget the rest.

I tweaked most of the presets to some degree. Most of them I just adjusted reverb and adding delay. Other than that I think the amp settings were pretty good I found just by changing 1 or 2 effects settings is all it needed. My faves were the basic amp settings between 90-99. I just added fx to taste. It's very easy to tweak. Some of the presets I had no interest in using. I think it is just a sample of what the amp fx sound like. Nothing I would use though.

hibiscus ro,you should really dig in deeper then adjusting just the reverb and delay, you are missing out if you are not using fuse to tweak your mustang further, you may think the factory presets sound good but if you start to tweak a preset you like by adjusting the sag and going through the different cab models for example you will find much better tones then the factory presets have to offer.

Maybe there would be more incentive to dig deeper and play with these advanced amp settings if they were covered in the amp or FUSE manuals. For example, I really had no clear idea what sag and bias were, and how they might affect the tone, until I did a search for them on the Net.
