I have a question. I have a 4-button footswitch and would like to know if there's any way you can change the amount of time you have to hold the 1st button on footswitch that footswitch and amp enter tuner mode? Because I often have problems where I want to go down to a different mode of footswitch (particularly to add some delay when soloing) and I often don't press the button fast enough so instead of going from 1st mode to 2nd mode and then to 3rd mode so I can add the delay - the footswitch goes into tuner mode which means no sound coming from the amp which is of course bad if it happens mid-solo :P
Now my question is - can I reprogram my footswitch so that it goes into tuner mode if I press and hold the 1st button that changes modes of the footswitch for like 3 seconds instead of 0.5 second or is it impossible? Has anyone tried it?
Thanks

Hi Neimenljivi,

I apologize for the delay in answering your question. Perhaps you have figured this out by now. But unfortunately there is not a way to program a longer or different length delay/time for the tuner mode to be activated. I can pass along a request to our hardware and software teams regarding this.

Perhaps, when you have a moment you can let me know if you are more comfortable with it now, or still experiencing the same challenge? Thanks very much.

Best Regards,

Hi Alan Willey,

Thank you for your response.

It'd be great if you could pass along my request to your teams as I'm guessing I am not alone in this.
I am a bit more comfortable with it, but I still find it challenging and still access Tuner Mode sometimes by accident, especially when I am in a hurry. I imagine it's even more difficult for those that are just starting to play the guitar because at the beginning you have to think and be 100% concentrated on what your hands are doing and it's more demanding to do other things meanwhile that require your concentration.

I would greatly appreciate it, along with everyone else experiencing this issue, if your software or hardware teams could add a way to program the footswitch for a longer delay before footswitch goes into a tuner mode as for me it's the only thing that isn't great about the amp and bothers me when I play - and to be honest it's really embarrassing if it happens during the gig that you lose all your tone simply because you held your leg for 0,3s (or whatever the exact time is) too long on the Mode button.

I think that if you do have enough time to tune your guitar during a part of the song when you don't have to play, or between two songs, you will also have the time to wait an additional second or two while holding the button on footswitch so no harm will be done there, but those of us that are experiencing the issue will greatly appreciate if it took longer to enter Tuner Mode. If it is made that everyone can program it for themselves, how big of a delay do they wish while holding the mode button to enter Tuner Mode - that'd be even better.

Best regards and thanks again, I really hope my request will be fulfilled with next software upgrade :)

Hi Neimenljivi,

Thanks for your valuable feedback. I am looking into it now with our R & D engineers. We will make an announcement on our website with a related update release if this can be added to the Fender Mustang III, IV & V amps.

Best Regards,
