I have a II, and am really happy with it. I was thinking about moving up to the IV to get the extra features, but now I'm rethinking that.
I had also been thinking of getting a POD HD unit instead of the IV - I have a feeling that may be more likely now. I'll keep my Mustang II, and love every minute of it. I hate that the larger models are having this problem and that Fender is not really addressing this.

+1 on this.

Now that we know it's just the dang power supply, I feel a lot better about recommending the Stangs. A few days in the shop or a swapout and you're good to go.

Sounds a little illogical my friend!

I wouldn't buy an amp with all the reported problems of the Mustang in hopes that I got a good one ... and that it would stay good past the warranty period ... or that it could or would be fixed under warranty ... and knowing that other than warranty service, Fender has washed their hands of it. Too risky and too much hassle ... can't see why anyone would do it. But that's just me.

BTW ... considering Fenders response viewtopic.php?f=27&t=59203 ... I wonder if warranty service providers will be told that fizz is considered normal Mustang behavior and is not covered under warranty. Something to think about.

I wonder too, I started a thread that I had deleted due to it going into the gutter from the trolls asking if the fizz was considered a warranty issue and received no response, sent a pm asking the same question and got the same answer.........no response :( Reported the trolls and asked to know the outcome....no response.......I'm beginning to see a pattern here

My M3 had the "bad" fuzz and was replaced under warranty. It took a little over three weeks. I went through Austin Amps who were recommended to me by Fender. Austin Amp's tech, Cameron, was very helpful in getting my warranty claim processed.
I wonder how many M3s with the "fizz" problem have been replaced under warranty??

The problem is solved by replacing the bad power supplies with good ones. The problem is also solved by getting a new unit which happens to have one of the good power supplies.

If the amp doesn't sound that great to you, it won't be worth any of that potential hassle. Of course, all you have to do is check the amp for fizz before you buy it, so there's a third fix. The best one.

Three fixes, one great amp. Or buy a Pod HD. I'm agnostic on the issue, have no skin in the game. Just that the fix is not some dark mystery anymore.

Whatever the cause of the fizz ... my take on Loren's post is that Fender has washed their hands of the problem. In that post, Fender did not indicate that they found any fault with the amp as to either design, hardware, workmanship, software etc. In the absence of Fender admitting fault ... I think it's unwise to assume that fender will fix fizzy amps under warranty. Will that come to pass ... I dunno ... but IMO that assigns too much risk to the user no matter how great they think the amp is.
