I'am not really defending fender here and no one knows for sure where the fizz problem is originating from and maybe fender should use better emi/rfi filtering in there circuit boards for the mustangs if this is one of the problems contributing to the fizz in there mustang amps.

Good point... yeah those chocolates look delicious, I imagine they are a serious investment!

Actually, I think they're quite reasonable considering they're hand made from scratch. You...may have trouble actually giving them to her if you try one...

O.

This just makes me glad I bought a Mustang I and installed a speaker jack. All the tone, none of the fizz, and I'm out less than $130 if you include the jack and footswitch!! (Though I do realize it helps that I already had a few speaker cabs!)

JamGuy, can you fill me in on the amp stand question I posed earlier? Thanks?

Hi all,

I have an old Champion(Fun little amp) I bought a Mustang III on vacation in may. I figure if I had to work on the beach house on my vacation, I deserved a new amp. ( I threw in a new Ibanez AG75 while I was at it, LOL!) My wife had some interesting comments, I may have to put the words to music... well anyway best little amp I've ever come accross. For two hundred and change it's unbeatable.

Without line conditioning just about every amp, at one freq. or another will give you a hum, click, or a "Fizz". I had not really noticed anything until reading about it here in the forum. I did some experimenting and have found that going out of my way to find some noise, disconnecting my laptop completely eliminated it.

Keep in mind that the more sensitive the equipment the more likely you are to encounter this type of annoyance. Give it (and anything else) a try and post the results!

The only down side I see here is the comments about Fender's response to the issue. If they are not responding it may be a good time to start an email/letter writing campaign. if they want our continued business (MONEY!) ignoring the problem is unacceptable.

Ultimately, each musician will have to make his (or her) own assesment. For my part, just the tricks modled into the unit justify the cost. That said, I've had more fun with this amp in the last month than I've had with all the other equipment I've bought in the last few years. And I ain't talk'in jelly, cause I only JAM!

Peace, Love, and Rock & Roll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for flaking out...

Unfortunately, I don't know what all to tell you about it. If it ever had a Mfg. sticker on it, it's long been peeled off. I think it came from MF but I've had it for 10+ years now so I'm not 100% sure of that. As you mentioned the supports in the back aren't really high enough...on this one either. This coupled with half-padded lower supports led me to duct-tape some extra foam padding where the supports make a 90 degree angle so the amp fits pretty snug now...

I just thought of this and it may/may not work...but I wonder if you could find a snug fitting PVC pipe to slide over the supports in the back? Might look a little janky but perhaps it would solve the problem.

Thanks for the follow up!
Looks like no matter what I find I'll be modding it slightly.

There are a couple of threads on this forum that discuss some of the options available for amp stands, including the pros and cons of using them at all.

Some players feel that there is a noticeable loss of bass/fullness of tone when a guitar amp is lifted off the floor, so some stand designs just tilt the face of the amp up towards you for better hearing, but still keep it connected to the floor along the back edge as opposed to lifting it up right off the ground.

I've used that basic cheap one from MF ($19) and it works well, but the problem with the MIII is that the LCD screen then points away from you and is almost impossible to access. Works much better with my SCXD where the controls face forward.

I bet if the $19 amp stand company had their product dump your amp on the ground they wouldn't make it your fault...

"In very rare combinatorial situations in which you place an actual amp on our amp stand, which we are not recommending you do, it may very slightly dump your Dumble on the ground and render it useless. Given that this is a very inexpensive product that LOOKS really cool, just like an amp stand, you can hardly expect it to actually HOLD an amp. Those would be unrealistic expectations and besides, we have reams of lawyers on retainer and you don't. Nyaaah!"
