Hello,
i have bought a Fender Mustang III just few days ago. Compared with my old Virtual guitar Roland VG88 , this new Fender amp can be considered sounding in a wonderful way.. it is clear that digital modelling tecnologies have done a quantum step since several years ago.

so i'm very safisfied with the sounds available in my new amp and also i appreciate the advanced features to tweak every model to create an even more personal sound..
i have understand that SAG parameter can changes the kind of compression typical of a model to go toward a transistor behaviour (almost no compression) or on the contrary to go toward a more compressed sound typical of particular stages tube amp.

i don't have yet well understand how is the behaviour and the range of sounds i can get using the other advanced parameter : BIAS.
i read that in the real tube amps technicians can change the Bias of the tube stage and so you can get variations toward colder timbres (increasing odd harmonics content) and on the contrary you can get more warmer timbre (increasing even harmonics content) from that amplifier..
can the Bias on Fender Mustang be used to get those kind of variations from original model?

Finally i have a request about possible future firmware updates: where can i do a request to get in a next firmware update some additional amp/cab models and eventually even some additional effect..
the range included at today in Mustang series is enough satisfying but i would like suggest to include some Mesa Boogie combo mark series channels (for example from mark III or mark IV/V) and also a specific model for acoustic instruments for example [color=#0000BF]Fender Acoustasonic..
i know that digital tecnologies make possible to add new stuff in the main memory between certain limits and in a first time (before to buy this amp) i believed that could be possible do this expansions even by ourself simply connecting the Mustang with a specific software like IK multimedia Amplitube (Fender or full version 3) that contains additional models and doing an upload of some new model or effect from the software to the amplifier.
Now i believe to have understand that is not possible but i'm sure that on request , Fender can occasionally pubblicate some substantial firmware update including not just useful bug fixes but also real new features like new amp/cab models and effects. (about the effects i'm thinking about to parametric equalizer to include in modulation section to add versatility..)

Thanks a lot
Dimitri

I don't know how likely it is for Fender to add features, which they might very well keep for a future amp. I think bugfixes or minor improvements are more likely, but I could see it happening if the competition comes up with a radically better amp before Fender is ready with their own new hardware.

But who knows, some manufacturers do add features, perhaps to keep customers happy. For example, Line 6's recent firmware for the HD series. (Not to speak of Fractal Audio, but they operate on entirely different terms.)

bias and sag:
yes these are supposed to emulate the behavior of tubes. They seemed pretty subtle to me but the only way to discover it is to tweak them yourself, especially at different gains and volumes.

adding new stuff to the memory:
They only thing you can "add" is variations on what is there, ie. different patches. The Mustang holds patches, which are just different presets of the amp settings. You can tweak the amp and save it on the amp itself, or tweak it in Fuse and manage your patches there. There aren't expansions or anything that would add additional parameters or amp types.

eq:
there may be a stompbox or rack effect EQ but i don't have a Mustang right now to check.

Does that make sense?

Those "expansions" are not physical ones but software expansions so there is not need to add anything of hardware but just that Fender decide to create and publicate specific firmware update that can be downloaded by customers..
if Fender would retains that is not convenient for its society provide that updates as suggested by the other customer , could be do like its collaborators at IK Multimedia (which created the modelling software tecnology of Mustang series by the way) that provide several additional models /cabs and vintage effect by single purchasing for a few dollars/item.. i think that it would be perfectly logical make happy the costumers providing those optional update/upgrade on request .. as their colleagues at IK Multimedia do it.
Of course i hope that kind of updates will be provided free in the way of Roland or other colleagues.

No,i can confirm you there is not any vintage stompbox or EQ rack effect included in Mustang III at today.

I thought that Mustang III gave access to some 'rack effects' through FUSE (though not straight from the amp)? - not sure what rack effects are available currently though. Or are these all just the same effects and its just a positional thing ie called 'stomp' when the pedal is in the pre-gain position, and 'Rack' when it's post gain?

Rich

Ding ding ding. The set of effects is exactly the same and of course there may still be only one of any given type in any position in the chain.

Yes. I know what you are suggesting but i would say don't hold your breath for that. The Mustang already covers all the major amp models. They haven't done it with their other amps and i don't see it happening with this one. That shouldn't stop you from suggesting it though.

Yes i'm intentioned seriously to send my suggestions to a Fender delegate:
who is the right person i have to contact? is he/she reachable also in this forum by private message? or else where can i find the email address?
