I have a MIII and love it. I am thinking of purchasing a M V head and want to use it with 2 Egnater 1 X 12 cabs I have. Has anyone tried the M V with a setup like this? I understand the M V is designed to run on its mating Cab and even if it works with other Cabs, the tone may suffer. I would appreciate your experience.

What Ohm rating are the cabs? If they are 8 or 16 each, they should be fine. Always try listen to them first though. It's safe.

You could tap the wires from your III into one of the cabs you have, to see how it sounds.

I use a line 6 spider III 4x12 cab with my mustang V and it sounds very good but i had to rewire the line 6 cab for true stereo, each L-R 1/4" input jack must be wired independently to each left and right side of the speakers in the 4x12 cab.

I've got a M3 for rehearsal and a M5 for gigs - both amps have identical presets (I manage them on FUSE and download to each amp to the same preset slots). Let me say first that I love the M3 - it's light and I swapped in a Eminence G'overnor for the stock speaker - sounds great. I play in a classic rock band and another jazz/fusion type band full-time along with an occasional sit-in with a R&B/Funk type band for weddings and corporate stuff. I've got presets for everything and the Mustangs handle everything wonderfully.

So all that said (just get to it!), I had a custom cab built for the Mustang 5 - it's an exact copy of a Marshall Bluesbreak 2x12 cab wired in stereo and loaded with two Eminence Cannabis Rex speakers. I think the M3 sounds great, but when I gig, the sound of the M5 in stereo through the 2X12 just blows me away (and usually several other people too). I'm a little disappointed that Fender hasn't done much with the Mustang platform in terms of new models and effects, but I think they're still freaking over this "fizz" thing (which I've never encountered thankfully!). I've been hangin' out over at the Fractal site recently, but not quite sure I'm ready to plunk down 10X what I paid for my M5.... would it really be that much better????

One cab I'd love to try with the Mustang V is a THD 2x12. I had one of those back when I had my Dr Z Maserati -hands down the best 2x12 cab I ever heard. If you can get your hands on one, that could be the bomb - and pretty easy to rewire for stereo too...

Thanks for the info tkdunn, I decided to try the V head and very happy with the results. I am running through the 2 Egnater 1 x 12 cabs and the tone surprised me. With this setup I can hear little changes in settings and effects and found it easier to adjust. I did notice that each model sounds best with its own cab vs MIII sounded better with different cabs for example. I also have no Fizz and was trying to find it. Amp came with V1.5 and updated to V1.6.4 with no problems, even on a Mac. Only issue is the setup looks strange with the head resting on top of the cabs side by side. Also, excellent tone at low volumes.

I bought a Mustang V head last week, Along with a second hane Marshall JCM900 1936 2x12 c cab. Couldn't quite stretch to get the mustang cab and when I saw the marshall cab the little lightbulb in my head came on. This runs in stereo at 8 Ohms and so plug in the two leads from the head to the two inputs in the cab and wow! However this is a completely new amp to me and I haven't even had time to look for the loud "Cleans" I bought this amp for. After all it only turned up this morning.
