Hallo, I bought a fender mustang 2 three weeks ago and have a question for fellow mustang users.
When I play clean it sounds very good but when I play Amercian 90's the distortion crackles. Is this normal?

Many thanks

Yes, the Mustang series is very sensitive to pickup output levels. I have some hot alnicos that distort the Twin on every GAIN setting but "1"!

Keep dropping your gain until the OD disappears, or drop your guitar volume. You'll find pickups like single-coil alnico 2's will not distort.

Yeah, seems like there ought to be a sensitivity switch or better yet an impedance matching system to get the most out of the amp.

O.

Since you can control both GAIN and your guitar's output level via the volume knob, why would the amp need a sensitivity control--or a selectable pad like PA inputs have?

The input is a standard 1 megaohm, impedance matching shouldn't be a problem.

Roger,
You may not be able to get some of the amp models to sound clean, but they should still sound good for what they are, especially after backing down the gain. I don't think distortion that crackles is normal. If you haven't loaded the latest firmware, you should.
