From this morning, I am a very proud owner of a new fender mustang III. I have tried several amps from different brands for the last 4 weeks and the mustang was the most impressive. I only had a brief session this morning and must say that it is heaven to play with.

Well done gizmo... glad you like it, I love mine too- amazing little amps for the money. Like jcwillow said, the more I play it the more I like it. Don't be afraid to really get in there and tweak the presets... sometimes what sounds great is counter-intuitive as far as where the settings are but some of the best tones I've come up with have just been from experimenting with different settings, especially messing with the sag, bias, and cabinet settings Anyhow, congrats and have fun with your new amp!

I love mine! And after I switched out the pick up in my Jazzmaster to Novaks it is just incredible to me the different tones and effects you can get through this amp. Love it!

As a long time owner of an original Deluxe Reverb, i was blown away by the sound of the Mustang. The added features like direct recording, headphones, and built in effects are just extra great-to-haves.

So do you still have the DR? Thinking of trading in my BDRI for a DRRI. But then I used the 65 Deluxe model last night at practice is was just amazed at the tone I was getting. Is the real thing better than the model? That much better?

Not better, just different, but still great. I don't have either amp anymore. The DR i sold and the Mustang i had to return because of the fizz (can't wait to get one again though). If i was able to put them side by side, there might be a slight bit more dimensionality in the original, and the reverb on the Mustang isn't quite as springy, but for me those were far outweighed by the silent idle state and ability to use the Mustang at very low volumes.

The BD to DRRI will be a big upgrade IMO. I never used a DRRI but they did a great job on the Princeton reissue.

Gosh, I really start to love this amp. I doubted to buy a tube amp from fender (I will do maybe next year) but I could not look beside the many possibilities and sounds from the mustang.
And maybe this is a question for a other topic in this forum.” is this going to be a other Fender classic in modelling amps?”

I have a blackface Deluxe Reverb and yes, the MIII surely does come so close to it that I will not be carrying it to practices or gigs anymore. I can now retire my DR.
This MIII is a total joy. I do not have any sign of fizz or anything else. I wonder sometimes if there might be an adjustment that is being run wrong?
But yes, I love the MIII and it is now my practice and performing amp.

Same results.

I had a fender Champion and loved it so when I wanted to upgrade I looked into another Fender amp. I was a little worried after looking at the G-DEC's (no contest compared to the Mustangs) I went ahead and bought the III. The best description so far that describes my experience is that "I like it more, the more I use it" It's not exactly like having the real models of each amp but nothing comes closer and in a couple of cases offers better new and better tricks. I've had the "M-III" for a couple of months and I now have it figured out (that took me a few hours) I love the amp as well.

Along with great sound (for solid state) the options are just about limitless.

I didn't mean to make anyone with the G-DEC feel bad, it's just that for the money there's better quality, bigger speakers, more power, 100's more tricks, and far more reliability in the Mustangs. Do a quick comparision and fast trade in.

Good luck to all :)

I realized the other day when i answered your question i was thinking of the Blues Junior, so i don't know if you will like the move or not. It isn't really an upgrade, more like a move in a different direction. The Blues Deluxe looks like a very high-watt version of the DR. The Deluxe Reverb has a sweet tone that no lower or higher powered amp can touch. It has this glacial spread that is making me sorry i ever sold mine! :o
