Hi Guys
No one has mentioned the master volume in the advance amp parameters?
This to me makes a difference on tone.
For example
I created a preset and put the gain where i wanted it and now this is how you will here a sound difference.
Put the gain where you want it and have a high volume (next to the gain control) but put the master volume (the one in the advance amp settings) lower and then listen to the sound.
Now Change it around by having the volume lower (next to the gain control) and the master (in the advanced amp settings) set high and then listen to the sound.
Now if you compare both the sounds i find if you have the volume lower but the master high( in the advance amp settings) this sound more compressed and the if you have the volume high and the master low( in the advance amp settings) is sound a bit more dirty.
you just have to go with which of the two sounds best in your opinion?
This being said the main master volume on the amp is only there like someone else said to turn up the overall preset that you are using.
I hope i have made it easy to understand?
if not i apologize.......................

True enough. However, this other "Master Volume" only appears on amp models whose real life counterparts have a Master Volume. You will not see this control on models like the Twin, both Deluxes, Bassman, Champ or Princeton as none of those have Master Volumes in real life, just a Volume control.

This other virtual "Master Volume" allows you to make the amp model overdrive the "Output Tubes" of the amp model. This will indeed cause more compression, add sustain and the distortion will be a smoother one than if only the Gain was being cranked.

I think it's really cool that Fender didn't do what most of the other
companies do and just concentrate on the preamp section of the modeled amps. To me, those give an incomplete model because the preamp section is only one part of the sonic picture. Most of the magic happens in the Power Tubes. Fender knows this and I think that this is a huge reason why these amps sound as good as they do. It also makes sense that they would do modeling better than most because they actually make tube amps!
Think about it. Boss, Line6, Zoom, Digitech, none these companies make tube amps. They used computers and test equipment to come to their conclusions about how to best model a tube amp. Without the background in actually building tube amps, they can never "paint" as complete a sonic picture the way Fender can. Kudos to Fender for joining the fray and leading the way!

Imagine though, a future version of the Mustang that allows you to mix and match preamp sections, power tube sections as well as the cabs. Hmmm...

O.
