How does the G-Dec compare to the Mustang? Just curious about opinions since I didn't have a chance to play one (G-Dec) and decide between them.
Also, is there really a huge difference between the I and II Mustang amps?

I'm able to get some pretty good tones from my "I", while it's hooked up to garage band. Here is some messing around through some of my presets: http://youtu.be/6KcX889Q7tY

Nice tones, and playing !

Main differences between the I and II are the bigger speaker in the II - 12inch - and the 40 watts of power instead of 20 in the I.

All other main features are the same.

Both the I and II can access all of the same effects and amp models as the III, IV and V, but some are only accessible through FUSE on the I and II.

thanks!
I wonder if there is a noticeable difference in sound between the 8" speaker and the 12" speaker at low volumes. Sometimes I get kind of a "farty" speaker sound.
I've been itching to head down and try one out. Might as well just trade up to a III while I'm at it. ha!

While the 12 inch speaker and larger cabinet of the II should certainly offer a fuller sound than the I, if you are really looking for a significant step up I would tend to bypass the II - which I have myself - and head for the III, which has significantly more power at 100 watts, a better speaker in a bigger enclosure, and the great advantage of on-amp editing, allowing most (all ?) effect and model parameters to be changed directly on the amp itself without a connection to FUSE.

While the II is great for home playing and practice, I have found that, unless mic'd up, in a full band/gig setting it has to work a bit too hard, with resultant loss of sound quality.

Having said that, a reading of some of the other threads here might suggest that holding off for a while on a step up to a III might be a prudent move, at least until Fender themselves make some sort of official statement about the issues people have identified with some of the III amps now in circulation.
