There are no indexing/bumps in the my selector knob, mate. Does not necessarily mean that your theory is wrong, though.

I agree with Tri-Logy...
There's no bumps when you rotate the preset selector knob so i don't think there's a chance that a vibration can move the knob...

By the way, Tri-Logy have you find a solution for your problem or it still happens?

Can't say that it's solved. I haven't been active searching a solution to this, playing also my Vox quite often. So far it have happened two or three times. Maybe I should try to reproduce it again before my warranty time ends.

Yep, I have all the latest updates.

There's not much I can do to help at the moment. But I promise to report here if ever come up with anything new into this.

I would agree with JetKingGuy. I've had it happen a couple of times too, can't remember if the computer was switched on at the time or not. My conclution was the same in that the knob was not parked correctly on the stop point (slightly inbetween stops).

My Mustang II does not have the indents or stops as you call them. It was made 1 year ago October 20, 2010 Has Fender made a change here?

As I wrote above, mine neither. It's a Mustang II. Bought it about a year ago.

Hey Guys, JetKingGuy here. I was wrong about the selector switch, it is not indexed. I was not with my amp when I posted, but I was certain there was a bump. I am sorry for any confusion, just seeing the lights switch made me think that.
I do however still think that the issue may be caused by being between the lights. I cant say 100%, no one can. But when it happened to me I felt that must be the issue. All I can say is that when I change the setting now and am careful its not an issue. Once again, hope Idid not mislead.

Curious, do you use a footswitch with your amp? The reason I asked is I plugged an instrument cable into my footswitch and touched the metal case of the cable plugged into my guitar to provide a ground to see how a footswitch worked on this amp so I could build one from stuff I have laying around. I noticed if you touch the tip of the cable to ground it switched "amps" and as soon as you removed it from ground the amp switched back. I could see where if you had a bad footwitch, it's cable, or the foot switch jack being intermittant it could switch back and forth easily. Just a thought, and you may not even be using the foot switch. At any rate this would only be switching between the two cabs you have selected and not just any random cab.

I may have an answer for you folks. I have had this happen a couple times to me. My theory is this: The preset selector knob is slightly indexed to stop at each present. (you feel a slight bump). Theres a good chance the knob was kind of in between, and heading toward the next setting. Slightly over the hill toward the next one, but not enough to trigger the light. Then when you play for a while there is enough vibration for the switch to "roll" down to the parked index position, and it changes to the next setting. I have been able to reproduce this. I am very careful at a gig to turn the knob and be deliberate about parking the knob between the "bumps".

Try to reproduce for yourself and see if you can make it happen.
Hope this is all it is.

I can buy being half way in between two presets but there is absolutely no indent that can be felt. I have had my Mustang II switch presets when I was connected to the computer and checking out a preset (before saving). When I was playing it louder than normal in my room it switched by itself. As long as it only happens when I am connected to the computer I see it as no big deal. If it does this while playing normally and without connection to computers USB port then that becomes a problem. Hope that one never occurs.

Dear community, dear support,

i can defenitly reproduce the problem the user has, except that for me it is a noisy "mod" knob, so i randomly switches in a modulation effect. I happens while playing - so maybe the vibrations make the knob move.

One of 3 things happen:
- The Effekt switches in and out very fast so just a tiny disruption of the sound is noteable. This happens every 5-10 seconds once.
- The Effekt switches in for a split second - a little longer interruption and the modulation section pops up in the Fender Fuse software and disappears again.
- The Effekt switches in and stays, clearly audible and visible in the Fender Fuse Software.

I tried to move the mod-knob to "off" but the failure stays the same.

My question is:
- Is there a workaround? I really never need any Effects from the Mod-Section. Even cutting wire from the Knob completely off would be an option.
- @Fender Support: Is it possible to get a replacement knob somewhere. Soldering etc. by myself is no problem.

Thank you very much

Edit: Nevermind. I solved it by replaceing the Knob with a simple 10kB-resistor. It solved it. Effects can still be programmed with Fender Fuse.

My Mustang II does not have any parking bumps at all on the channel selector knob, and I have confirmed that when playing LOUD, the vibrations from the speaker CAN cause that channel selector knob to turn ever so slightly, switching to the next preset. It's happened to me a few times.

Some people will carefully slide some paper underneath the knob to make it harder to turn. This can keep the knob from turning when playing out in a gig, but obviously it's still a design flaw from Fender. The big selector knob on the Mustang 3/4/5 DO have stops and this is a BIG help for gigging. Then again, I'm not entirely sure the Mustang 1 and 2 amps were ever designed for gigging, as they don't have the same foot-switches, the same ease of use, they both lack a Middle knob (which you would want to have at a gig), etc. The M1/2 amps just have a higher learning curve to try to use them out in public, though they work fine for that. But it's always been my recommendation that if you wanted a Fender Mustang amp for gigging, don't buy less than a Mustang 3. Simple as that. I have a Mustang V half-stack in my bedroom that I play on and I don't even gig, but it's such a fun amp to have.
