I was using a preset in the amber bank, no FUSE connected. Just guitar and amp. Suddenly, in the middle of the song, preset changed to another one in another in amber bank.

Luckily I was just noodling around at home, but wouldn't be very nice if you're gigging.

Is there something i should do now to prevent this from happening again? I remember this issue has happened to somebody else in the forum but I can't find that thread now.

Thanks.

That's a weird one. I've only ever had this happen while the USB cable is attached to the amp (even though it may not be plugged into the computer). Hopefully there is a fix for this, it gets kind of annoying...

That is odd, never had that happen on my Mustang I or the Mustang III.

Just an FYI, the latest firmware is 1.8...

Can you duplicate the problem or does it seem to happen randomly?

Has it happened more than once?

I would definitely update to the latest firmware v1.8...

I am not sure if Loren or any of the other Fender reps post after hours.

You may have to wait until tomorrow for them to reply...

No i can't make the problem to appear by myself...
It happens randomly....

I have the amp for 3 months and it happened 4-5 times so far...

Hey Guys,

I'm sorry you're experiencing issues. That particular problem is usually caused by noisy pots. Try updating the firmware to the latest version though. If the behavior continues, you may need to have it serviced.

Do you mean the pots from my guitar need service or from the amp?

The pots on your amp. Most likely the encoder knob.

Did you buy it new and how long have you had it?

If the amp is withing the return period from the retailer you bought it from I would take it back for a new one, otherwise you are likely going to have to see if you can get it repaired or replaced under warranty...

Either way I think you are going to have to take it back to a Fender authorized service center to have it checked out. They might just replace it rather than repair it but someone is likely going to have to look at it.

It's tough for me to determine if it will have to be repaired or replaced. That would be dependent on what the technician finds when he looks at it.

I may have an answer for you folks. I have had this happen a couple times to me. My theory is this: The preset selector knob is slightly indexed to stop at each present. (you feel a slight bump). Theres a good chance the knob was kind of in between, and heading toward the next setting. Slightly over the hill toward the next one, but not enough to trigger the light. Then when you play for a while there is enough vibration for the switch to "roll" down to the parked index position, and it changes to the next setting. I have been able to reproduce this. I am very careful at a gig to turn the knob and be deliberate about parking the knob between the "bumps".

Try to reproduce for yourself and see if you can make it happen.
Hope this is all it is.
