Hello,

I need a little help or advice.

I bought a Mustang II and I'm playing a an Epiphone LP Standard (new un-modified).

In the store (grabbing random guitars) the Mustang sounded fine but, mine just has too much bass and it's really bad when your banging on the low E string (like when your playing Living After Midnight for reference). I'm not sure exactly how to describe it but.. chords are fine but start chunking on the E string and it's like someone cranks the bass up to 10 and the kicks the volume up a couple of notches too. It's really irritating to my ears. It doesn't seem to matter much which amp model I choose and I've turned off the effects on the models.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the guitar, I've been playing it through headphones and my pandora and even more recently through an early 80's peavey and things sounded fine.

So, before I return this... any help or ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

So, turning the bass down doesn't help? In FUSE, have you tried using different cab sims with the current amp?

Thanks!

Yea, I've turned down the bass to 0 and the trebble up to 10, now that truly sounds bad for obvious reasons. I'm not at home with the amp but going off memory, it did the same thing here too (but to a lesser degree).

I haven't tried the different cab models, I'll see what that does for it.

I don't have any means of recording this, I doubt a laptop microphone would do much good with this.

Me again,

I'm wondering if I'm experiencing what everyone is talking about in this thread: http://www.fender.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=57349

I'm really new with all this so I'm not sure what Muddy, and Sag means from that thread. Muddy sure sounds like a term I might like to throw at what I'm experiencing but I have no idea what it really means.

Some of the cabs are a lot more bassy than others. Go into Fuse and try the 57 Deluxe cab, or try turning the cabs off altogether.
