I have a Mustang IV on order. I'm wondering, does the modeling occur before the effects loop or after?

We use a digitech Live 4 that I used to go from Rp500 into that and then into my amp. The Live 4 then also goes to the PA. I'm ditching the pedal for the mustang, but if I go from the effects loop to the Live 4, and that goes to the PA, I want to make sure my sound is already modeled.

Thanks for any info anyone has!

I'm gonna say yes. I have a volume pedal in the FX loop on my MIV. It affects the over all volume of the amp. All of the bells and whistles in the amp sound great, so it must be before.

I use the volume pedal here so it doesn't act as a volume control on the guitar. It is hard to get the volume of all of the presets the same and sometimes I just want a little more volume. I've only used it live once, and I miced the amp. It sounded great and the sound tech said it sounded better than my Marshall DSL100 and 4x12" cab with my pedal board.

Guys, the modeling has to happen before the effects loop. Otherwise, the loop would be no different than plugging something in at the amp's main input. That would make the effects loop completely ineffective.

O.

Orcatraz is correct. The modeling occurs before the FX send. The FX return is basically a straight path to the power amp so it has to occur pre FX send.

But a pedalboard output can be plugged in the input of the Mustang Amp? Is there no impedance, or other technical, issue?

I already have a GT-10 and I'm really thinking in buy the fender MIII.
Actually I was thinking in use a 4 cable method to connect guitar, amp and pedalboard as following:

Cable 1: Guitar > Normal Input on the GT
Cable 2: GT Send > MIII Input
Cable 3: MIII Send > GT Return
Cable 4: GT Output > MIII Return

On GT-10 the impedance have this values:
INPUT: 1 M ohm
RETURN: 220 k ohms
OUTPUT: 2 k ohms
SEND: 3 k ohms

and the nominal levels are:
INPUT: -10 dBu
RETURN: -10 dBu
OUTPUT: -10 dBu / +4 dBu
SEND: -10 dBu

Is there any technical problem with this setup?

Walter

You'll probably want to connect the GT's output to the FX Send on the Mustang, not the guitar input.

Are you sure that?
Isn't the FX Send a output signal connection?

My apologies. I meant FX return.

So, ist's like a say before:

Cable 1: Guitar >> GT Input
Cable 2: GT Send >> MIII Input
Cable 3: MIII Send >> GT Return
Cable 4: GT Output >> MIII Return
