Orcatraz - I've been listening to your other recordings and just wanted to say that you are one fabulous player my friend! I can definitely hear heavy Steely Dan influences in your electric playing - (Denny Dias/Jeff Skunk Baxter/Larry Coryell!!). The finger picking was lovely too and I really enjoyed 'Moorish Mystique' which you played with a Variax.

If you aren't a professional musician my friend, you damned well ought to be otherwise its a sheer waste of talent! :D

Do you have any stuff on you-tube? be nice to put a face to the player!

Cheers, Rockcat!

I'm a part time Pro who was a full-time... at one time. Actually, Moorish Mystique was played on a chambered solid body nylon string going through a Fishman Aura Spectrum. There are some cuts with the Variax though. I have a few notches on my belt but am absolutely horrible at self-promotion. Thanks for the compliments.

Here area couple of Youtube clips with me in it. Not great but hey...

I'm on fretless bass on this one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMNDuz66394

I guess I kind of derailed this thread a bit. My apologies, saransk.

Back to the subject at hand. I'm still trying to find an amp/cab/overdrive combo to replicate a Dumble but haven't had any success yet so yeah, a Dumble model would be nice.

There are a couple of presets on the fuse site called Boutique Clone, if your not already aware of them. Not sure how good they are...

Nice playing, BTW.

I would love a good, clean amp model included. Something you can use pedals with. I still own a lot of pedals, and I hate to say it the Mustang just does not have a decent built in distortion stomp box included. I do love the other amp models, but agree that a crystal clean mode would be nice. Either that or a heck distortion pedal model.

Great sound, Orcatraz, What are the parameters on your preset. I like the bite you are getting from it. Sounds like a strat in Neck, and Mid/Bridge at times?

Hi, nm9p.
As promised, I am posting a correction because I was wrong about one thing - the amp model. I used the Princeton going into the SS212 Cab.

Thanks for the suggestion and the compliment, lesbeat.

Well, I did a little research and found Robben Ford talking about the amp on Youtube. He mentioned that the Dumble was based on the Twin so I went with that. Sure enough, I got something pretty good using my tried and true technique of putting the Overdrive in the Post position. I mainly use a strat with this amp so trying to approximate Robben's sound won't be as successful unless I used a Les Paul or my other humbucker equipped guitar. Nah, I like my strat for this amp. Thanks again.

The Twin model not clean enough? :o Even with the gain cranked that model never seems to get dirty. How about the Deluxe models? I know they can get a bit furry with the gain pushed up but I've never had any trouble getting clean sounds from them either. In fact, my main clean sound is the '65 Deluxe going through the Bassman cab. You do have to offset the resulting lower output by putting a compressor with a very minimal or no compression ratio in the post position to boost the overall level.

As for the Twin, if you don't like the its tonality, try combining it with a different cab sim. The changes are dramatic and the amp model stays absolutely clean.

I have only had my V for just weeks, still playing around with the settings. I will try the deluxe model with different cabs. Thanks for the suggestion.

With hot HBs, I find the Twin develops a subtle but unpleasant harsh digital clipping at 3 and above. I find the only really safe level to avoid it is "1".

+1 on the '65 DLX for clean. And a few others. The Twin for me nails it for chording, but single notes sound awfully dead, cold and digital. Which a real Twin is somewhat guilty of anyways.

I seek cleans elsewhere for a little warmth and dynamics. And when you do overdrive one of the others, it doesn't sound digital clipping.

Really great playing and tone on the sound clip; got to try that Princeton/SS212/post overdrive combination.

Great playing and Great tone Orcatraz!!!

Last night I was set on returning my M3 because of the fizz problem, but when I add up the cost of a DRRI and all the pedals I'd need to get the tones I like I decided to wait it out a bit longer...

If you actually want to share that tone, (and it's so good maybe you dont)..lol...please let us know every exact setting or upload it to the fuse community.

Cheers

Thanks LaCab and CharlesTY! :D

It's already uploaded at Fuse, LaCab - Do a search for Orcatraz or the name of the preset "Fumble".

Have fun with it and remember that you'll probably have to make some adjustments to suit the tonality and output of your guitar and pickups.

O.

P.S. To all those who've downloaded any of my measly 3 presets, please rate them and do give suggestions and comments at Fuse. Thanks to all.
