Hi guys,

going get a Mustang but just not sure which one. I don't need loud but I wonder if the speaker and footswitch on the 3 is better enough to warrant the extra cash over the 2?

I play mainly rock, GnR.

Is it true that there is the possibility to get deeper into the effects in the 3?

Thanks,

David

I own the MII and absolutely LOVE it to death...best AMP I've ever owned. I was going to grab the M(Twin) IV? then heard the III sounds just as good, if not better by some the comments here...but there's no way I can give this baby up, its' so light to carry, it has the sound of any AMP or any AMP I've ever wanted to play thru PLUS more.... so I never second choiced it (well, now i don't second choice it...I'm keeping the MII 4-ever).

Sure the MIII's and up have easier editing (deeper editing I cant see) they say a few more added effects, but there really isn't, its just they added some extra (pre-saved-to spots) but its still probably worth it, as long as you pick up really well made one. MII u cant really Jam with, unless the drummer hits like a girl...and the MIII foot switch just rocks, well the M(Twin) rocks more... but you can add one those fancier foot-switches later to an MIII but NOT the MI/II...and the editing LCD screen makes MIII more attractive...but some people reports it "may" be be causing a 'signal issue' with sum unwanted noise ..seems some do and some dont.. sorta hit n' miss I guess, but with the MII you cant go wrong...there simple (in way but wow tons of fun stuff), solid, light, packed with sound..but if you plan on jamming with friends or doing clubs later-on, you'll want an MIII or you can use the MII Mic'd thru a PA.

Speakers I wouldn't worry about. These days, there reallyealy well made. Good luck.

The MIII is still very light at only 36lbs. Advantages over MII are:

1. Better Celestion speaker, in a bigger cabinet = better, bigger/fuller tone even at lower volumes
2. More power (100w). This isn't just about volume for its own sake, but clarity - when the MII starts to strain at volume, the MIII has way more clean head room.
3. Serial FX loop
4. Excellent LCD interface lets you do almost everything without needing FUSE (except I believe access to rack effect models)
5. More amp models (3 more I think?)
6. 100 presets, all fully user programmable
7. Comes with 2-button pedal but can run with 4-button and/or 2-button foot pedals (ie 6 buttons total for greater floor control)

Rich

Have just played a full band gig with the II, and while it got by, it was noticeably straining, especially if I used anything other than a very clean starting tone. Any tones with more drive/crunch started to get messy with the Master set at 6/7.

Having said that, if playing at higher volumes isn't a big need for you, and hooking up to a computer to do your editing doesn't bother you, then the II might do the trick, especially since through FUSE it has access to all the same amp models and effects as the III.

For me personally, the major plus of the III would probably be the ability to edit most things on-amp without the need for FUSE and a computer.

Ok, so just called to reserve a M3 at the local shop :-) A few quid more but if there is any fizz it will be less hassle to get a replacement.

That'll be me in the club then?
