Scorpaeon,i agree with your statement: I noticed that when I tried to induce fizz, sometimes it was more audible than others, and sometimes was completely absent (using the same settings I always have). Today when I try to induce fizz, it's only a distant, faint, remnant of what it used to be, if its there at all. On the same settings that I could clearly hear it before. I cannot pinpoint any one factor leading to this, but I contend that in my case, the fizz issue has improved over time.

In my previous post i said i may have the fizz and i heard it at a low volume with the fender '65 deluxe amp model but on saturday i tried the other fender clean amp models and i could not hear any fizz,i think part of my problem was going from my guitar output to my GDI21 and then into my mustang V guitar input,i may have been slightly overloading the front end preamp in my mustang witch made the fizz worse.

When i did plug in my guitar to the mustangs guitar input only, the fizz on the '65 deluxe was almost gone and i could not hear any fizz with the other fender clean amp models,i also think that the A/D converter may induce some fizz if it is overloaded with too much gain from another effect or stompbox pedal,my GDI21 has a very strong output level,i cannot have the output control knob higher then a 9:00 position.

This thread may go on forever. :)

Interesting thing for me is, my DRRI makes WAY more hiss and fizz sounds than my Mustang III. I kinda wish it was the other way around. :!:

I'm pretty sure your DRRI is not making a Mustang Fizz sound.

I've had my Mustang IV for about a year and a half. I thought that i was one of the lucky ones. I had my 3 favorite presets set up on my foot switch, and never really accessed any of the other models. All of the sudden I am getting a strange buzz. I have done no troubleshooting yet, just came here and I think the fizz has crept up on me. I will try a different guitar, cable, power strip, etc....but i have a feeling i now own a 50 lb paper weight.

So, I just got a MIII 2 weeks ago, I hear a slight fizzle on clean (which i play mostly), It is mainly when I am right in front of amp. Volume around 2 1/2. Should I keep the amp? and if not, what do you guys recommend to get? I love the fuse software, and being able to control the amp on the pc, the scxd is too limited to me 15 watts not as good as the MIII. Are there any stayers with the amp here? Or are you all returning them? I have the extended Sam Ash Store warranty for 2 years, so I am thinking about staying on the boat to see what happens with the amp. And I really don't think getting another amp of the same model is going to help.. Even trying it in the store out of the box, will never be quiet enough to hear such a fizz. I am so confused!!!!!!

What you are hearing is considered by Fender to be normal for this amp. The extended warranty does not apply to this issue.

Some people have gotten rid of their amps. Most people are either living with it or don't hear it for one reason or another, or don't care.

It all depends on how you use the amp. You will never hear it in a normal band situation. If you do solo shows of jazz or other quiet music, you may hear it, and then it's a question of how much of a purist you are. Or as Fender puts it, how much of a "discerning listener" you are.

Whatever you decide, just remember the fizz sound you hear is never going away.

I am torn here, BUT am thinking , which amp is a good alternative to the MIII? I kinda really like what fender did here with the software, and when I record to the pc, it is just perfect, Using a Brian Setzer sig Gretsch,, Funny playing a $3000 guitar through a $250 amp. I am not expecting the world from this, but live in an apt, I had a tweed Deluxe re, but it was too loud for my wonderful wallbanging cussing neighbors. I may live with it, and yeah the store ext warranty lets me take the amp back anytime in 2 years, thas a pretty good thing about the store extendeds,,

If the fizz is a problem for you, and you can return the amp, do it, get a mustang floor (175$ if look hard enough) and get any cheap 10/20w monitor with it. It will cost you overall the same and you get the expression pedal that comes with the floor

or

return the mustang 3 and gest a mustang 2, you will get the same funtionnalities, and you will go back home with some extra $ in your pocket

what about the scx2 with the separate head and 12" cab? works with fuse? The fizz is low, but with my Grestch it is kind of annoying me!!!

Wondering if someone can do me a favor....

I'm trying out a Mustang III and I've read here that sometimes the amp starts fizz-free and then develops fizz that gets worse over time. I've listened to the original sample.

Can someone post the most heinous example of fizz that they have? I'd like to gauge how bad "worse over time" is, to see if it's something that I can live with or if I need to return the amp before my 30 days.

Thanks in advance.

I tried the fizz test with a number of mustangs at the store and never ever could find anyone that sounds as bad as the first post of this thread, not even using my patent-pending fizz generating settings :)

if you want to try it here it is:

On your guitar
-select your bridge pickup, preferably a humbucker in this case
-put guitar volume at 10 or max
-lower tone of the bridge pickup to 1 or min

On your M3-4-5
-Select preset 92 (basic deluxe 65)
-lower treble to minimum
-lower mid to minimum
-increase bass to maximum
-put master volume to around 2.5

Now, on your guitar, fret the 12th fret 6th string and gently pluck the the 6th string with the tip of two fingers, if you do it very hard it could mask the fizz, as the fizz is usually 3dB lower than the actual guitar sound
