You don't get it.

Someone on a Fender forum threatened to laywer up.

Any chance of a responce is gone.

Don't believe me, call a lawyer and ask when someone threatens to lawyer up will the defendamt clam up?

The answer will be yes it is now a legal issiue.

Sorry you do not like the answer but the truth hurts.

Well it sure explains why strangely all reviews have been removed from Musicians Friend...
Still, what's there to lawyer up about, didn't he get his money back or something?

BTW, you're not, by any chance, a Fender employee who is pointing us in the right direction without revealing himself, are you?
(I guess i won't get a straight answer but that's OK)

Fender's lips are NOW sealed? Oh, I see, as opposed to when they used to come in here and give us loyal customers helpful guidance on how they're attempting to solve this universally-identified problem. Right.

Fender has clammed up from the beginning because they have a real dilemma on their hands. They have sold and continue to sell defective amps, and they're making a lot of money off these defective amps. Corporate has told their well-meaning product staff to stay silent on the issue in all public forums. For obvious legal reasons.

What we do know from individual contacts is that Fender certainly knows about the problem and is attempting to engineer a solution. If and when they do, we'll know about it.

Tricky thing is...is lots of folks don't care about the fizz. If you play loud and leave your volume knob up and play in a band context, you may well never notice the fizz. I couldn't hear it until I really listened for it.

So Fender is delicately attempting to skate past the graveyard here and avoid having to do a Total Recall. Just fix individual units when returned, assuming they ever come up with a fix. Much cheaper, much easier for them.

There really isn't a very complicated scenario here. No doubt, if and when Fender solves the issue, they'll make a running change to the product line.

Same thing happened on the original Epi Valve Jr. The original 1/4" jack wasn't grounded right and left you with a nasty hum. They eventually solved it with a running change.

so... I've noticed it now too... you can officially count the Mustang iv in with the problem too.... Unlike others... I play blues "tones" not necessarily blues... and the fizz exists.... I just thought it was a grounding problem with my strat.... but not so.... it really does exist....

:)

Did you call Fender and officially report this?

If not I highly recomend it.

It is an easy sound to miss/overlook. It sounds like this little fizzy distortion tone on top of your main tone. But then you notice it doesn't get louder as you pluck harder, the way an actual distortion envelope would. It's just this "set-volume" quiet little carrier fizz that works off your note. And it stops right with the note. It's easy to miss it if you have a hot preset with a lot of gain as it tends to blend into the background noise.

So Fender has two problems: they not only need to fix it, they need to fix it in a cost-effective manner such that the fix does not add materially to the cost of goods. It's that Part II that might take a while!

Just ignore him, he's intentionally trying to ruin this thread, probably a Fender shill or something.

Either that or a bored little kid who enjoys posting the same comment over and over trying to bait a stranger on the internet.

Since I want to actually contribute to this thread, I'm in the market for a new amp. I like what I see of the modelling flexibility and power of the Mustang line, and I was thinking about getting the three since it has better controls on the amp itself. A few people have said their threes don't have problems, so I figure I may just test one out and see if I get lucky. If I test drive a Mustang three in a store how would I confirm it has fuzz or not? I have some decent in ear canal phones that should help block out the other people in the store, will I hear the fuzz over headphones, if the amp in question has this problem?

The III is a great amp, once you ditch the presets and at least explore the excellent online user-created presets if you don't have time to roll your own. I've found some real gems in there, but you have to explore some.

The fizz..eh...it's way below my loud blues playing. Most guys, it's not going to bother them.
