I am on the market for a Mustang III amp and I saw the 4 button footswitch. I know that the III comes with the 2 button but I heard the 4 button has tap tempo. is that true? Also, what kind of control can you get out the 2 and 4 button switch combined?

I recomend getting the 4 button, and using it along with the 2 button. I have my three favoriites in the Quick Access of the 4 button and use the 2 button to control two of the stomp boxes.... (Overdrive or Compression, and Chorus in my case.)

This seems to work well in my situation, since I don't use a vast number of presets. Though I will eventually get around to reogranizing my preset list to have my ten faves in the decades (10, 20, 30, etc.) and use the 2 button bank control to switch my favorites and control the stomps with three of the 4 buttons.

I am hoping that Fender will expand the programming options for the buttons on both footswitches. That will be a welcome addition.

So the 4 button does work with the first 3? I only have a I (limited funds, y' know? :( ) and I didn't thin the first 3 supported a 4 way switch? If I get a 4 way footswitch can I use it with my Mustang I?

You can't use the 4 or 2 button foot switch with the I or II, only with the III, IV and V. The III-V can use both 4 and 2 buttons switches together.

I have a IV and use both the 4 and 2 button switches. This is how i have mine set up. I use the QA1, QA2 and QA3 for the presets I use the most. I set QA1 at 00, QA2 at 10 and QA3 at 20. Then I have selected and/or edited other presets in banks.

00-09 Lead overdrives
10-19 Clean amps
20-29 Lighter overdrive

I use the 2 button switch to maneuver up and down in each bank. There are other ways you can use the 2 button switch, tap tempo, etc., this is how I have chosen to use mine.
