Years ago when I put a multi-effects unit through an amp, I always heard that you should turn the cab simulations off. They were only suppose to be used when recording. Would this also apply to the Mustang? I know that when the cab sims are active, you can definitely hear a difference when scrolling through them. Any ideas?

If you're referring to the mfx cab sims, then it's likely a good rule of thumb, but of course there's the other rule of thumb that you are always free to experiment and you might find something that sounds good doing that. I'm thinking that in the digital/modeling realm, there's less chance of letting the smoke out of the wires with such experiments.

Otherwise also you are free to experiment with different virtual cabs on the Mustangs and pick what you like (some folks here have indeed found that selecting no cab sounds better for certain styles).
