Hi, I was wondering if there was any way to bypass the effects on the Mustang I amp and just go straight to a regular amp sound (no effects). Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, the Mustang I is not one of the amp models available on the Mustang I !!

In other words, while you can turn off all of the effects on the amp, the sound you are left with will always be one of the included modelled amps, rather than just the sound of the Mustang amp itself.

Hi lekneetonguetoe,

Depepat is correct. The Mustang amps don't necessarily have a sound of their own. The entire focus is on modeling.

Hi. I'm not sure that I'm clear on the issue here, so I'll just double check.

I have a new mustang 3 and a 1 also. I am tempted to plug in the 1 (in a mostly clean mode) via the 3's effects loop in hopes of having a fairly close reproduction of the 3's sound and a little better "spread of sound direction" on stage.

Is that entirely stupid, ineffectual, or dangerous? (I am well qualified to perform stupid tasks). If it is a bad idea, is there an alternative way to do something like this?

Just an old guy trying to learn in a new world.

Thanks
MJ

So what will be your out on the mustang 1?
If it's gonna be your headphone out, it will shut off the speaker and there won't be any "spread of sound" ...

This may be a lack of clarity on my part or it may point to my lack of intelligence.

My hope was NOT to complete the effects loop. This is not about "stereo effects". This is about two amps-running roughly similar signals -pointing in slightly different directions in order to cover a wider area (as on a larger stage or room).

I was posing the idea that perhaps I could run from the LINE OUT on the M3 and into the guitar INPUT on the M1 (Providing hopefully "just enough" signal to the amp as opposed to sheer wattage and volume). Hopefully, the M1 would then provide amplification of said signal and on out the speaker as per tradition.

Is this possible? Dangerous? Un-American? Or would it be better to run some sort of signal splitter between the guitar and the two amps? If so, does anyone have ideas or recommendations?

Thanks

MJ

Again "the LINE OUT on the M3" is the Headphone Jack and it will shut off the speaker.
So i'm afraid a signal splitter between the guitar and the two amps is your only choice.

You'd have to wire the speakers togeather, has nothing to do with lining the M1 into the M3. Speakers can be wired in Series wiring or Parallel wiring. Note the M1 speaker probably is lower watts so you'd probably have to use the M1 as the driving amp. But as was mentioned, you could also split the signal straight off the guitar then just tweak each amp to get your 'spread' effect. Then you won't be voiding the warrantee.

You won't have any problem using the FX send as a line out. It won't mute the speaker. However, I"m not sure you'll get good results by taking that line out signal and running it into the guitar input on your M1. That input is looking for an instrument level signal so it can be amplified. You'd be amplifying a line level signal.

10-4 on both counts. Thanks!

Any suggestions for a quality signal splitter set up?

Your setup would work, but you'll have to use the Aux input on the M1 instead of the guitar input.

:-D Tried the M3 (stereo champs mode)line out into the M1 guitar input (Bassman mode) and (For about five minutes only - I like my neighbors) cranked em both to about 4 and...
1. Nuthin' blew up.
2. Achieved the desired goal.
3. Sounded pretty cool.

Have not had time to play with any of the variables but it seems to evidence promise.
I suspect if I can get the M1 to a Twin Reverb mode sans the reverb, this would be a pretty fair "neutral" mode from which to amplify the M3 in whatever mode. Though the Bassman weren't half bad!
