Well my not so old mustang I packed it in last night.
Was working fine one moment, shut off and now won't power on at all.
Off to the shop with it on Saturday, fortunately Fenders warranty is usually pretty good.

Hey peterp,

I apologize for the inconvenience. Perhaps the power supply decided to quit. Have you tried to connect it to another outlet by any chance?

By the description it sounds like the amp went home to glory during mid play. Maybe Fender should offer to trade him for a new one so that the dead one can be analyzed. It's the first I've heard of Mustang just dying for no apparent reason. Might be worth investigating.

Well that is what happened to my Peavey, i think it was a power surge or something, took it in and it was the fuse, while that was getting repaired, i was looking on-line for a new amp and stumbled across the new Mustangs series, my peavey hasn't moved since. I just put it on the shelf and never looked back , I love my new Fender Mustang IV, i had no idea these were out, its been a couple of weeks now and i love it, now i use a surge Protector on my amp, and hope that never happens to me again. later

Hi Loren,
no problems these odd things happen with electronics.
Yes I tried plugging into different outlets in the house and making sure the power cord was actually still plugged into the amp itself :) .

Yep, that is what it did, was working, then it was off.
I was just trying out some Black Sabbath with the SG tuned down to C# (someone just told me to try that) sounded quite good.
Maybe the Mustang had an allergic reaction to a Gibson guitar being plugged in HA :D

Could just be a fuse but that is not user accessible if there is one.

Any rate it will be back at the shop tomorrow for service.

Hope is doesn't take long. The Fender warranty was a HUGE selling point for me. Actually, I bought my IV before I ever tried it out. I got it home and absolutely fell in love with it. Good luck.

The shop tech tried to do a "power on reset" and it still would not start-up.
Much what I expected.
Then they said these amps are basically just a computer inside and nothing they could do for it in their shop.
So it has been sent off into "Fender Space" to hopefully come back in working order at some point.

It sounds like you should be receiving a new amp soon. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience. I've had a few pieces of gear die on me after a few days. If you don't mind, can you send me a PM letting me know the name of the dealer? I'd appreciate it. We may be able to get that unit back here so we can take a look at it.

Hi Loren,
Interesting, your concern about this amp - just look again at the
" Obnoxious Tail end distortion" thread and see what's going
down in Europe with the M III. The stories are horrendous.
Getting to these dealers and having the amps returned to Fender Tech
for examination is just as important, don't you think ?.
How about some concern for those "out there" in Europe.

Jim

Should have updated this thread a long time ago but I've been away on holidays and worse traveling for work.

A new replacement amp showed up at the music shop to replace the unwell one.
I was finally able to get into town and pick it up a couple of days ago.

No idea what was found to have caused the original to pack it in.

Indeed! :(

Hope the new amp lasts a little longer than the first.
