I am currently using a Cyber deluxe , and do like it, However there`s that sound between clean and OD that it seems to struggle with, How does Mustang compare ?
Completely different sound or new version of Cyber ? :?

It's a major evolution of the original Cyber tech, which was pretty good to begin with. G-DEC 3 and the Mustangs have the new stuff.

Hello and welcome to the Forums! I own a great Cyber-Deluxe that I bought used a while back. I bought it because I own the original Fender G-DEC 30, two new G-DEC 3-Thirty amps and both a Mustang II and a Mustang V stack. I knew that the Cyber-Deluxe was the forerunner of the other amps that I own and I wanted the whole show.

While the Cyber-Deluxe is cool and interesting and capable of producing lots of great tones (with 32 editable presets), it honestly can't compare to the new Mustang amps. The new line can be tweaked beyond your wildest dreams, especially if you use the Fender Fuse software and link the amp to your computer. For the record, I paid $50 less for a Mustang II than I paid for the used Cyber-Deluxe. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one of the new Mustang amps, though I wouldn't part with the Cyber, either.

On a side note - do you have the software disc that originally came with the Cyber-Deluxe?

By example Gen I Cyber tech from the FM-DSP series amps is in the Super Champ XD, and it sounds awesome, though there you have the 6V6 power tubes and a 12AX7 in the preamp to warm things up. Folks have waxed longingly for a Gen II SCXD with Fuse. Though ironically, Gen II sounds so responsive and tubey by itself it's not clear it NEEDS tubes to sound great.

I own a Cyber twin Se and have access to 2 Mustang 3's

IMO the Twin is far superior in diversity, available effects and overall tone, I can get better tones out of the CTSE, However I have work to get them.

All the mustang tones are useable right out of the box with very little noodlin needed.

Both amps are great

I don't own a Mustang but have played thru a MII a few times at a local music store. I liked the sound quality but as a former Cyber Deluxe owner I think I prefer it over the Mustang. To me the Cyber Deluxe is built like a tank, very similar to other Fender professional grade amplifiers. You already know this if you own one but it is very gig worthy and I used mine many times. I didn't get that feeling from the Mustang II. To be fair I haven't played the newer models. The Cyber Deluxe and Cyber Twin feel like other blackface amps heavier and well built. Hopefully the Mustang III, IV, and V are built to the quality of the Cyber series.

I was just playing a Cyber Champ at GC the other day and was frankly disappointed in how digital, cold, boxy and tinny it sounded. My MIII totally destroys it.
