Well, I did get the back off this afternoon, but it was a chore! It looks like they do put some glue under a number of the screws! :x Why?? I was about to give up when I finally found one corner was giving a bit, so I kept prying with the putty knife and it eventually pulled up. I ended up with a small tear in the tolex, but it's not very visible.

Then I got the jack wired in...the one that disconnects the internal speaker when you plug another into it, and it works really nicely!

No doubt that amp really benefits from better speakers! I tried with a couple different ones...Weber 12F150 and Warehouse ET-65. It sounded good with both! One model that REALLY benefits from a good speaker is the 65 Deluxe Reverb...through the stock speaker it gets raspy and harsh when you crank up the gain. With both of these speakers it was so smooth...I couldn't stop playing! And the Marshall and Mesa and 5150 models were all great, too! Here soon I'll try it with my 2x12 greenback cab.

Obviously, if it was your only amp, or you wanted to gig with it, the MIII, IV, or V would be the way to go. But since I'm only jamming at home with mine, this is a cheap way to get a Mustang and still enjoy it through quality speakers! I'm glad I did it! :D

I haven't mounted the jack yet...not sure exactly how I want to do that. But I'm sure I'll figure that out before long.
