Hi,

After many hours trying many solution, i finally found , for me the best way to get ableton recording.
In few step , a HOW TO :

Disable windows ( all version ) system sound.
Disable windows audio service ( access through : system configuration )( all version )

De-install Fender ASIO- restart computer
After restart, the speaker on the taskbar ( lower right corner ) HAVE to have a red cross on it

Plug The amp on USB
Install ASIO4all driver
DISABLE on ASIO4all ALL devices except FENDER MUSTANG AMP and Speaker audio out.
Startableton : on preferences , audio, CHOOSE ONLY ASIO4all ( and ONLY this )
this work for me.maybe this will help someone else.

anyway, to all : Good Luck :-)

I'm glad you got it working Birddy. So the ASIO4ALL driver works better than the Fender ASIO driver on your system?

Hi Miss Howard,good morning .-)

Obviously, this is right, the ASIO4all seems to work better. I need to test now AMPLITUBE and FUZZ,to check if any problems pops up. I was pretty surprise about the recorded quality, and maybe after a new release of Fender ASIO, the problem could be fixed and ASIO4all not needed anymore.

Actually , i didnt got the NOISE problem fixed, that apear after few minutes: i can shut down the amp, or disable / re-enable it on ASIO4all window, but of course, that kill a recording session.

I think and hope, that new release and new Firmware update will fix the problem.

Anyway, im still thinking, Fender made a great job, im pretty happy about my Squier Strat and ofc, the Mustang amp, so i didnt regret my acquisition.

If someone need help to configure Ableton or whatever, please dont hesitate to contact me. I will be glad to help anytime.

HAND u guys :-)

ROCK ON !!

Yep, that goes for me too.
The Fender ASIO driver makes my Cubase 6 crash with nothing more then just choosing it as ASIO driver.
The ASIO4ALL driver works just fine.

We'll see what we can do about making the Fender ASIO driver more stable, but I'm glad that ASIO4ALL works for you guys. The drivers are actually pretty similar. I've used it myself on occasion.

OK guys, been following along and I can relate to the anxiety. Sometimes I get so pumped up about the possibility of recording in this way it freaks me out (I'm a 42 year old who was a veteran of the 4 track cassette days.)

I have successfully fired up Ableton and hooked up the Mustang thru ASIO on my old Windows XP . But the poor old thing just did not have enough RAM.

So I have transferred everything over to my newer laptop that has all sorts of fire power. I'm at the step of trying to get ASIO4ALL to recognise the Mustang. She does not even see it.

Ableton works, FUSE works, the USB is fine, I just need to know how to get ASIO to recocognise the Mustand as a "WDM Device." Any help would be greatly appreciated.

May have found the answer on another thread:

"If you have Realtek on-board sound you're outa luck too ... it's not ASIO compatible."'

Its new computer time ....

Hi,
ASIO4ALL work fine.even with realtek SC. i just had a noise a while. Increasing the samples fixed the issue and i can record as long as i want now, no problem actually.

I would recommand to update your BIOS / chipset / soundcard and USB drivers, just to be sure

shut down the windows audio service.
choose no sound on system panel ( no windows system sound )
Basicly u NEED for sure to plug your AMP and turn on power BEFORE u start ableton.

you can try aswell to use a other USB plug. try front or rear plug.

HAND

PS: Did you EVER saw the amp on 1 of your PC ? even with ASIO or ASIO4all ?
IF NOT you have maybe a dead USB on the AMP ...try a 3rd PC. Normally you should see the AMp on the device manager.

Without trying what you mentioned I got a step closer. I disabled the OEM sound driver called REALTEK. REALTEK is totally incompatible with ASIO. Now ASIO recognises the Mustang.

When I arm a track for guitar recording as per the Ableton video ....http://www.ableton.com/movies?type=live ... utostart=y

I think I see signal coming but I cannot monitor. If I highlight the onboard driver as well as the Mystuand in the ASIO window then I can monitor the other tracks but not the Mustang track (as the dude in the video so easily does.)

I'm close but not close enough. I may try the things you suggest ... but I think if I disable all sound on the PC then I'm not going to be able to monitor anything.

Been going through the same thing all day and finally got something working. Will try that "enable" devices thing but I think that was okay. The only problem now is that I had to crank the Mustang uo to volume 9 to raise the green LED on Ableton audio track to about a 6.

I tried so many things not sure what flipped the switch ... maybe it was cranking the amp to 9. So now I know I am just a hair away from nailing this.

hi,

like i said, de-install fender asio...restart install asio4 all.

well, that was working for me. so..look...fter that word : if u want ear something...disable the sound .-)
i know its pretty unusual, but thats the way it works on MOST of us.

choose then on ableton ONLY asio4all.

post the result of your try :-)

Disabled all the sound but could not monitor at all. Did so more recording just cranked the Master and Volume to 9 each and adjust the volume on other tracks and it works. So, this is a situation I can tolerate, just an odd one.
