you know how they talk about tube amps bringing out the "harmonics" better than SS amps??
I tried something the other day..I set the pitch shifter to an octave above and the delay with the added pitch thing to a fifth above. ( the first 2 "harmonics" that a really loud note produces when it sustains)
that's what the tube amps do when they are cranked.....
I'm totally gassed about this..... or I'm just heavily drugged...
either way, the pitch shift thing is a lot better than people think....
and if you set the auto wah right ,it's really nice...
forget the pre-sets, mess with the thing........

Absolutely. These amps are about tweaking. The presets are there more as guides or starting points. You won't get the full functionality unless you get into editing them.

I think the Mustang is very good, tremendous value, and I do like it. But so far no one has yet made a full DSP (digital signal processing) that sounds, feels and responds just like an all-tube amp.

The Hughes & Kettner Zentera is still the best full DSP amp on the planet (makes the Line 6 Vetta I/II sound like a toy!) but then it was £2,500 with the 'Z' board controller. I'd say the Zentera was close to 95% there. They're so good only very rarely do you see one going second-hand (the Zentera is no longer made) - bought & used by pro's, they just hang on to them.

I hope you don't mind me asking but where specifically do you set the dials on the pitch shifter?

Are you referring to the pre delay on the pitch shifter or a separate delay effect, and how can you set it to a fifth above?

Do you put the effects before or after the amp?

I set the pitchshifter to 4.6 .that seems to be a 5th above... then use the Stereo Delay to spreach the field of the tones....then if you want you can use the Fuzz with the octave setting to get the high octave sound.
I don't use Fuse.... if you learn each function of the amp, I get the exact sound I want...also knowing the amp inside and out ,I can change settings on the fly in a live situation.
3.3 seems to be the octave below on the P.S.
6.8 seems to be the octave a bove. or a 5th.( use your ear )
You can't do a 3rd because they change according to the scale you use. a 5th is always a 5th so scales don't matter.

I was mistaken about using the delay I mentioned in the frist post..it actually Attenuates the note you are looking or. maybe Lorin can point us in the right direction for getting an octave above WITHOUT the Fuzz setting....

Hmmm....I'm not there at this point, still prefer to plug into my tube amps. Though I'm playing through the stock 8" speaker on the MI, so that doesn't help any. I think I'm ready to void the warranty and put a speaker jack on it...I know it'll sound tons better through my greenback cab, or even the Weber Jensen clone or Warehouse G12-65 clone I've got.

But the idea here does intrigue me, I might have to play around with it.

It's inexpensive enough to replace the amp. Now here's mine w/ the added speaker jack, it's also a NC jack so it cuts the internal speaker and drives whatever you plug in. On a side note, my friend also ordered a Warehouse speaker, he's pretty happy with it, but it's not for a Mustang amp.
