Just fire up FUSE, login and do a web search for "classic" or "aerosmith" in the media library.
Plenty of nice presets out there and checking them out is a breeze (right click and download is enough, you will instantly hear the preset and decide if you like it or not).

I recommend one called 'Pinkys Sweet Vintage Overdrive'.

Oh, that's one of mine :D

Thanks, I'll check it out, I'm new to this kind of thing. I just have bought my first guitar and amp, so I don't really know how to play yet.

I've modelled several of my custom presets off the "Aussie Rock" preset that comes loaded with the amp - #24 I think on the III, IV and V. I wanted an early 80s Neil Geraldo-ish type sound (early Benatar tone was the bomb in my opinion) and the "Aussie Rock" was a good starting point. I do like the Marshall 70s and 80s amp models, but I've used the Super-Sonic quite a bit as well just to give my presets a different flavor for certain songs. The trick for the Super-Sonic model is to dial the gain way down to 2 or 3 and keep the sag at neutral - provides a nice crunch tone that is usable in loads of applications. Of course, once you pick a tone, your gonna have to spend some time demo-ing modelled speaker cabs to match the (actual) speakers you are using on your rig. Sometimes the best option is *No Cabinet* - be sure to always try that too.

One other thing I do is use a pedal compressor (MXR SuperComp) and always make sure to turn off the onboard compressor - it just doesn't sound that great to me. I leave the MXR on most of the time - the effect is pretty subtle (sensitivity around 9 o'clock), but it helps to make the sound much punchier with nearly every preset I use.

Okay, one other *last* thing I've found. I prefer to run the master higher (around 3 or 4 for rehearsals and "4" to "5" for gigs) and run the volume on the presets pretty low instead of maxing out the preset volume and running the master lower. Just sounds better to me. This is an old trick I learned on my '05 CyberDeluxe - seems to work for the Mustang as well.
