The amplifier will amplify your guitar signal and send it to the computer thought USB. You will need to use another device, such as you built in soundcard or audio interface for output though.

Sounds like you have not set up the input device properly in live.

Go through the recording setup tutorial carefully to set your mustang as input, - your sound card as output - they both need to be set (ACTIVE).

Mine worked flawlessly after I understood how to set it up correctly.

This KB article should help.

http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... d-playback

It's important that when you enable your soundcard's outputs that you also disable the inputs. This makes it so that the only enabled input device is the amp.

I know HOW to record, I just don't know how to get the same effects that you hear like on the radio. Is it just because Fender only offers a limited version of Live? or because I'm not using any pedals, preamps, etc?

U ask about recording...then preamp...then pedals..then effect...so what ?

as far as i could understand ( and all other answer make me believe that )

Your question was about recording.

What you record is the signal u will be able to transmit to the amp.the mustang have 12 effect + modulation buil-in..if u use a effect built-in, u will RECORD that too.
Now, if thats not enough...u GOT fuzz...download preset from community , AND ,

disregarding the version : Ableton have TONS of effect u can use on your recorded track.Amplitube should help here too.

oh no, my original question was just whether or not I needed a preamp AND the mustang in order to get a "professional" sound. And now that I know that the mustang basically is a preamp, I still don't know how other bands get the desired recorded sound. I know about all the effects and stuff on Fuse, but it doesn't sound nearly the same as what guitars sound like on the radio and such. is there a certain "format" that people follow? like what to set bass, treble, gain, etc levels at when recording?

Its much more coplicated than you think. You need an interface that goes to your computer, that is conected to a mixer,a mic is connected to the mixer and you have to mic the amp for a GOOD sound.NOTHING SOUNDS BETTER THAN A MIC!!!Get ready to start spending.
