After you have updated the firmware, and played with editing your own presets, you won't look back! Have fun. As far as editing presets, remember the old Brillcream commercials.... "a little dab 'll do ya!" make small changes and see what it does. Start with input gain low and add a little at a time... and use the volume and tone on your guitar to help shape your sound, too. The MIII is very responsive, especially with the Fender models.

I haven't had a chance to get into the software end of it yet.Is everything on fuse?I played around with it last night after I got it home and I thought it was way cool.I described photoshop as a black hole because the possiblities are endless. Now I have a second black hole in my life.I can't wait to do some deep exploration.

Enjoy your MIII. I just moved up from a MII. The first thing I learned about the MIII was that it is ultra responsive to the volume and tone controls of your guitar, especially on the factory presets. So, if some of those presets sound harsh to you, just roll the volume back on your guitar until you get the tone intended by the preset. Then it's a joy to hear!

I'm not thrilled with the algorithm they use for the "Sag". I find all presets benefit from the Sag being turned down all the way--the tones/models suddenly become much more responsive, dynamic and more tubey. The Sag adds way too much compression and takes away all the dynamics. I like some actual "compressor" compression but the Sag is overkill.

Try it. You'll notice the amp responds way more like a good tube amp with the Sag down.

You don't need to do that, & in any event the patches can easily be tweaked to suit your ear & your guitar. Aside from EQ, the cab model and 'sag' settings make a HUGE difference. If you reduce the sag you'll immediately get a bigger warmer tone that's more touch responsive and more valve-like. Try changing this before anything else & you'll immediately hear & feel what I mean. Changing to the first 4x12 cab option (the 2nd one isn't as good) makes the amp sound huge.

Rich
