On my Mustang IV I like the sound of the 57 Deluxe Reverb with an overdrive effect from the Mustang. good Rockin Blues sound. But when I roll the volume back on my guitar to clean up the sound a little for some mellower blues it sounds like caca. The distortion fizz is still there and it sounds aweful.

Has anyone figured a cure for that? Is that the "tail end distortion" that there is a long thread about (but the sound they complain about is never really explained)? Does a firmware update fix it? Thanks.

Could you post a clip of the sound you're getting?

O.

Unfortunately I can't, I'm not set up to record with it. Basically when I roll the volume knob on the guitar back (with a tube amp you can do that and the overdrive will cut back too, even with most distortion boxes hooked up), it sounds like a quieter, weaker guitar sound (normal), but with fizzy distortion still coming out when I pick the note. Really sounds bad when the noise gate is on it and it goes from no noise at all to trying to do quiet, bluesy picking, but the distortion hiss pops out with each touch of the string. Sucks.

Do you have the latest firmware? A lot of stuff "cleans up" better with the latest firmware. In general humbuckers seem to have a hard time cleaning up though, you have to get the volume level just right. What guitar are you using?

I'm using a strat (HSS), but I have it on the single coil when I'm trying to clean it up and play some soft blues. I'll try the new firmware to see if that will help I guess. Thanks.

I had company in town so I haven't had a chance to do it yet. Hopefully tonight I can do the update. I'll let you know. Thanks for the concern!
