I bought a Mustang II Yesterday morning and installed the latest Fuse 2.2.2 on my windows laptop. All was going well until I plugged my amp in. Windows comes up with "this program has stopped working" and it closes. I have tried reinstalling fuse, turning the amp on then opening fuse and the other way around. Anyone else have this problem in windows? and know how to fix?

Thanks

I'm also suffering from the same problem on my father in laws Mustang IV on v2.2.2. I can connect the amp in firmware update mode and don't have the same problem with his Mustang 2 (although it's not actually supported by Fender Fuse, it does connect in both modes).

His machine is running XP SP3 with all the latest .NET components installed and updated and the program itself runs fine, it just as soon as the amp is connected (if already powered on) or powered on (if already connected) then the programs crashes and needs to exit.

Is there a known bug with this version of the software and the Mustang IV on XP?

I'm going to try a different XP machine and see if that makes any difference but it would be great to hear from anyone else having tried the same thing to save me wasting my time on something that wouldn't work.

Thanks all.

Tom

Hello,

It may be the case (if your amp is new) that you need to update firmware before using it with FUSE. If FUSE will connect to the amp while in firmware update mode, the program will ask if you want to update to the bundled firmware (which you should, it is the latest).

When you describe that you don't have this problem with the MII but DO have a problem with the IV makes me believe that the IV needs a firmware update before you can use it with FUSE.

The only other thing I would check is to ensure that your USB ports are USB 2.0. I could connect to my MII with an old laptop with USB, but could not flash firmware. I have since upgraded to a slightly newer computer and don't have this problem anymore.

The same version of FUSE is compatible with all of the Mustang or GDEC amps.

Hope this helps,

Telehound

Thanks Telehound, I had tried updating the firmware assuming that this might be the issue, v2.2.2 being newer than the firmware the Mustang IV was shipped with, but it didn't make any difference.

Hey Guys,

We've seen this before. Most likely, there are some presets on your amp that Fender FUSE doesn't like. They could possibly be corrupt. Try a Preset Restore by holding down the exit button while turning the amp on. This will allow the presets to revert back to their factory settings. This will also erase any presets you have on the amp.

I get the same problem and it seems like so do many other people - and none of the solutions offered work. Basically, it looks like the software offered by Fender is worthless rubbish and I regret buying the amp now. And I'll be happy to tell anybody thinking of getting one of these not to bother.
