I was wondering if micing the Mustang vs. using the Line out or USB out produces better results.

Also, when recording, does the Line out and the USB sounds the same? I'll be recording into my daw using a Liquid Saffire so yes, you do have some modeling on the mic pres that would add some flavor when micing the amp.

And can you record using both the USB/Line out & Micing the amp at the same time? That might be very cool since then you could cut in stereo and have a bit of a different sound per track.

Any tips would be great!

Hey SEA,

You would definitely get a different signal recording through USB, mic'ing, and using a line out. How much of a difference and in what ways is the question I would ask.
Mic'ing it would be the best way to get the exact sound that you're hearing out of the speaker. But, if your mic and mic pre aren't accurate or have too much color, you won't be recording the sound accurately anyways. Recording through USB will yield a direct digital recording, but you won't get the sound of the speaker. The same is true for the line out with the exception of an AtoD conversion stage.

If you have a MIII -V you can record all three outputs at once using the FX sends as line outs. On Mustang I&II's, you would have to use the headphone jack as a line out which would mute the speaker.
