I was at GC and I placed the MIII on the "On-Stage Stands RS7000 Tiltback AMP STAND". I was not totally happy with the fit. It seems like an good amp stand, but with the open back design, the back arms did not reach high enough.
I was wondering what others are using for an amp stand for the MIII and MIV.
Thanks for your feedback.
Scott

I have a Musician's Gear stand that I am using with my Mustang III. It is a nice solid stand, (and only $19.99!) but like yours, the arms are about an inch too short. I plan to cut lengths of a yardstick and put them behind the amp to add stability and length to the support arms.

Interesting website about the Stand Back.
Where did you buy yours? Obviously, you like it, correct?

Used it today at a gig. No need to carry around my metal off the floor stand anymore. Bought mine direct as I recall but they are available elsewhere online. I think there is something to the floor coupling thing. These guys should be getting rich selling these things.

The Standback is a clever idea that very effectively tilts an amp up towards your ears but doesn't lift it at all, which may or may not be an issue in live situations depending on the venue, stage height, audience position etc.

Not sure about the 'coupling' claim with the Standback (surely that depends on what kind of surface it is 'coupled' with), although my Mustang II amp sitting off the ground on an Onstage brand amp stand does seem to my ears to have less 'bottom' than when it sits on a wooden table.

Yes one of the points of it.

I have a stand that has the amp 2 feet off the ground and it sounded thinner. The Standback is no different than using tilt-back legs except you don't have to install them on the side and adds no weight to the amp itself unless you stored it in the bottom and then only a pound.

Here is another thread discuss the bass coupling effect.

I've had my Standback for a while now...picked it up at a local Sam Ash store for about $20. Sturdy, folds flat, and it's easy to carry! Great product...

I don't doubt that the coupling effect is real, but I'm still of the view that the surface the amp is coupled with must make a tonal difference, for example a 'hollow' wooden stage versus a solid floor, and while the Standback certainly does maintain some floor connection it is only along the back edge of the cabinet.

Still a very useful product as a secure and lightweight tilting device, and I guess any benefits you feel you get from still having some part of the amp in contact with the floor can be looked on as a bonus.
