I found that I can't get clean version of the 90s amp no matter how I tweaked the settings. They are all overdriven or fuzzed.

I was hoping to reorganize my banks to along the lines of the amps. So that 00-09 would be variation of the Twin for example and 30-39 could be American 90s.
I wanted each bank to have the full spectrum from clean to beyond.

Since I don't know about all of these amps, I watched this youtube demo of the Dual Rectifer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=It_k4uDnetU to familiarize myself with it's sound quality and features. It can really cover the entire range from clean to death metal.

What I've determined is that my Mustang III American 90s isn't modeled after the Dual Rectifier's Channel-1 at all. It's more like the Ch2-Ch3 vintage/modern settings.
That statement will make more sense after watching the video.

I haven't researched all of the other amps yet. ie I don't even know what a Soldana is, but I'll check it out too.

I know the short is to get a M-B Dual Rectifier if it is that important. The good news is we have other amp models in the clean range i.e. the twin, deluxe, or Brit60s. It just messes with my preset organization strategy.

I find that playing with the speaker cab options in Fuse has an effect on how clean a setting can be. It's different with each guitar. I have several settings where I have the cab simulation setting set to "off" and just use the natural tone of the MIII cab.

Also, in addition to dropping the gain, lowering the mids will help lower the threshold for distortion.

I haven't tried cabinetLESS arrangements. That will keep me busy for the next couple of nights. :)

Has anybody discovered the magic "volume knobs" on guitars yet, or is it just me?

That didn't work for me on the big boys.
