Hi everyone,

I#m just curious how you use the speaker-/cab-simulation. For recording it's obvious to use it. But if you play the mustang V through a 2 x 12 cabinet, do you also use it or is it better to play without it through a real cab ?

Thanks

I could be wrong about this, but I don't think you can turn off the cab simulations. In FUSE, you can select a specific cab, but I don't think you can select "No Cab" or that there is anyway to bypass it. So when you are playing through a speaker, you are still getting the cab sim. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

In FUSE, if you go to "Advanced Amp", you will see a drop down list box for Cabinets. Click on the list box and you will see that there is indeed an "Off" listing there.

If your looking to get the cleanest possible tone from an amp model, turn the cab sim off and see how much more clean you get.

But... the models are designed to be played through the cab. So for the most realistic amp sounds use the speaker models. Of course whatever sounds good to you is correct!

Okay, I stand corrected! I was relying on my memory, which obviously failed me!!

Anyway, I agree with vintagevibe...my guess is it won't sound all that great without the cab sims.

Can you turn the amp models off, too? I'll have to check into that...setting up a preset with no amp or cab modelling might have some possibilities for acoustic guitar! Especially if you wanted to use some effects like delay or reverb! Hmmm.......

Hi,

first of all - thanks for the answers !
I have been noodling around with some presets and found out, that some presets need to be played with cab-sim to sound good (the more heavy presets sound fizzy without), others sound better without (like the small champ - it sounds very boxy with the cab-sim engaged). So it's a matter of taste. You have a hell of options to choose other cabs or none to try out which one sounds best.

There is no option to turn off the amp-section. One has to be turned on every time !

It is a nice option to have no cab sim.

I would agree... I really like the sound of the basic Supersonic setting (90-something...) with the 4X12M cab. I've goofed around with other amp/cab combo and for some I like the "appropriate" cab, and for others I've found mismatched cabs that I like the sound of better...others, no cab setting at all.

I have to say, even after a few months I'm still finding ways to get better and better sounds out of my MIII... it's an awesome little amp!

And as Vintagevibe mentioned, options are nice!!! :D

I get a nice tone for my acoustic with the cabs off - any of the blackface or tweeds sound good.
