Is there any way, using the 4 button and 2 button footswitches on my Mustang III, that I can get more than 3 presets?

I'm looking into getting the 2-button foot switch to go with my 4-button foot switch that came with my Mustang IV, and far as I know, you can. I know for a fact, though, that you have a button the can turn on/off the reverb on a preset. I'm not completely sure about the q/a settings, but I think you can get maybe 1 or 2 more.

No, there isn't.

Using the utility menu, you can program 3 presets of your choosing as "quick access" presets.

When using the 2 button foot switch, you can use the utility menu to select its function, from among the following choices:
Toggle between quick access presets 1 and 2 (AFAIK, you cannot get to #3 with this foot switch),
or
Use it as an up/down switch,
or
Control (have the ability to turn on/off) stomp + one other effect.

The 4 button foot switch has a dedicated mode button that lets you select the tuner, or one of 3 modes:
Mode 1 or QA (quick access) mode, where you can access all 3 programmed presets.
Mode 2 or up/down/bank mode.
Mode 3 or effects mode (stomp/mod/delay--but not reverb--may be turned on or off using the respective switches).

Functionally, the 2 button foot switch is largely (but not completely) redundant, yet it does give some ability to do a bit more without having to change the mode of the 4 button foot switch, e.g., you could use the 2 button to jump between two presets, and the 4 button to turn on/off effects; or, use the 4 button to jump between 3 presets, and the 2 button to turn on/off 2 effects (e.g. stomp and delay--you can choose the reverb or even tap on this foot switch from the utility menu).

HTH,

PITA

Hey, PITA, thanks for your post. I was not completely sure about it. I just thought it would make sense. Now that you mention it, though, I remember, you can only choose 3 Q/A presets in the utility menu. Thanks for clearing this up!

I still think haveing the 6-button options would be good to have, though.

Hi,
Something I'm puzzled about with the Footswitch display.
What is the third window in the 4 Button Switch's display used for ?.
I have an image of the footswitch from an earlier Thomann website showing
a display of "200" using the 3 display positions.

http://www.thomann.de/ie/fender_footswi ... ustang.htm

Any ideas ?.

Jim

It displays the current preset being used.

Thanks for the reply.
But only 2 digits are displayed for any preset - 00 to 99 !
How about the 3rd digit on the display ?
That's my question. ( See the Thomann link ).

Close, but doesn't look quite like the Mustang foot switch. The bottom label of the rightmost column on the MS4 says "DELAY", and in the picture above, the word seems longer. Even the text above the segmented display looks like it might be a little longer than the MS4's, but it's hard to tell from the angle of the photo.

Hi Pita - Well spotted - just received mine yesterday.
It also has no Assy. No. in top right corner.
The Thomann description says "Original" Footswitch .
Maybe Fender can throw some light on it - ooops !
Why are Fender not using the extra digit for extra detail ?

I think maybe they are using a different footswitch. They don't only make them for the mustang. They make one for the G-Decs and B-Decs that looks the same. They also make one for the TB1200/600 too.

Think the bottom right may say Overdrive or Rev/Dly - just a guess.
The 200 could also be P00 (Preset or Program 00), no bottom segment
required for a P, but needed for a 2 - ( push that second switch down to see, Ha)
which would be more logical !
C'mon Fender !.

Hi guys.
I've been wondering about this issue myself. I have a Mustang I and got to thinking about the fact that my computer can access every preset on the amp. If there was a way to capture what messages are being sent by the computer to the amp's USB port, maybe a third party company can design a USB connected pedal board that can send those messages. Thoughts?

Where does the 2nd footswitch plug into? I'm not by my amp - in the utility menu are there options for each of the 4 and 2 footswitches?

@tjinka1 On the back of the amp there are two slots, well more than two, but two for the foot switches. One says 4-button and the other says 2-button, or something along those lines. I think they explain themselves. You just plug the pedal into the right slot. The 4-button into the 4-button, and the 2-button into the 2-button.
Hope this helps!

Also, yes, there are settings for both pedals in the utility menu. For the 4-button, you can pick the 3 presets, for the 2-button you can pick what it does. I think you can pick like, stomp box to turn on/off reverb, changing the TAP settings, going through the first 2 presets, and maybe one more thing.
