Hi! i have the mustang v head, i'm using it with 4x12 marshall cab stereo 8homs 2x 150w and i'm using my boss gt-3 multieffect through loop effect line in.

The boss gt-3 has stereo line out so both right and left are plugged to mustang head.
It sound awesome!!! it by-pass all the presets, so you can't use footswitch.

The sound is A LOT better and a LOT louder.. i can krank it to 9 and still sound good, with a good metal/punk preset on my gt-3. And the level on the back of my gt-3 is almost at the max.

I'm verry happy with this setting, I used it with my punck/metal band yesterday and everyone was impressed about it.

I also have the boss gt-3 and i run my digitech gnx3 and korg ax1500g amp modeling processors through it's send return loop,i built a switch box so i can switch between these two units,i would recommend the gt-3 to everyone because it does not muddy your tone or take anything away from it when you run other guitar pedals or processors through it,i use it for additional effects with my other guitar processors and it does sound very good.speph2828,i also have the mustang v going through my line 6 4x12 spider cab and it sounds good but can you tell me in more detail how you hooked up your gt-3 through the mustang v head?did you just run it into the effects loop in of the mustang v or is there still something i missed about your hook up?

hi! I just hooked it in the return right and left of the MUSTANG V, and i really love it, I i have all the stereo efects of the gt-3, wich are better, i think than the ones on the mustang ( i use two cabs, one in each corner of the room, that's awesome!!)

How about your switch box, is the a way i can use either my gt-3 OR directly the mustang's effects without unplugged everything? i don't really know to do it ( if it's possible)

Thank you!

Hi Steph2828,
No, you have to remove the return jack from the amp to allow the Mustang preamp to get thru. Plug another guitar lead into the Mustang input and switch guitar leads to use it's preamp ability after removing the Return jack. The Master control works either way.
Tried it - pity ! It would require some internal modifications to bypass the Return socket to allow a footswitch to A/B it.
Jim.

I have a Mustang III and ME-25, and I've been mulling over something like this:

or this (can be rearranged as above, but now either MFX or Mustang amp can be bypassed):

or a Frankenstein like this (as above, but can also deliver parallel MFX and Mustang, not to mention blend/volume controls and even A/B/Y in/outs, with lots of nice, flashy leds).

The downside is, the cost of one of these approaches that of the ME-25 or Mustang all by itself--and if you have the Mustang IV or V you have to worry about stereo... :(

But, I think they look really cool.

PITA

Hey

I have a Mustang V Head and Cabinet and a RP1000. So if I connect both left and right outputs on my RP1000 to the Mustang V's FX Returns left and right I would be able to bypass the built in effects on the Mustang and use the RP1000's effects ?

Thanks
